Opinion on this OEC

It certainly will be a substantial upgrade! I think it would make a lovely pendant. The new price seems like a pretty good deal IMO.

Only a little hesitant as I have not purchased an OEC before. So in terms of light performance, I’m afraid it might not be as good IRL?

It will perform DIFFERENTLY than a MRB. The broad facets will give a ton of flash & rainbow light return, instead of the twinkle sparkle & white light return of MRB’s.
I prefer Old Cuts, so I’m biased.
That OEC is beautiful. Not cut for precision, but definitely cut for fire & life.
 
The OEC will give off confetti like broad flashes of color vs the glittery look of a MRB. Both are beautiful, but different.

What’s her return policy like? Can you buy her and try her out?

I was thinking the same thing: either give this stone a test drive & return if it doesn’t make your heart sing, or visit an Antique/Consignment shop near you to try to find an OEC, similar to this one, to see the difference for yourself.

Erica has great eyes and I would trust her judgement when it comes to old cuts. If you have any questions or hesitations, just talk to her and she would be more than happy to answer anything, send you comparison videos, etc. Returning should be no problem too, not that I have experience with that because I kept mine :mrgreen2:
 
Wow! That's a beautiful stone. If I were in the market, would highly consider purchasing.
 
I would buy that in a heartbeat. I suspect it won’t be quite as perfect as your AVR since they’re cut for ideal light return but it looks like it wouldn’t be so far off. It’s also very flowery, nicely symmetrical and decidedly much bigger! That price is fantastic too

It’s a gorgeous stone and has beautiful patterning. I had actually considered this stone and only chose a different one because I wanted something larger. With the recent price reduction, I don’t think it will be available for long either. So, I think you should go for it!
 
Erica is as honest as they come. And that stone will not last at that price.
 
I think it is beautiful. Like most OECs it will face up smaller than a well cut MRB and faces up very slightly larger than my 1.73 carat OEC. The only reason I bring that up is that when I first started looking at OECs I was influenced to a large degree by carat weight. Similar weight OECs can vary quite a bit in how large they face up.
