 One last round of thoughts before I pull the trigger tomorrow. (flyingpig, I hope you're up, as I can use your expertise! :)))
The difference between the two is a price tag of $4,000. Both have very similar specs but one is H VS2 and the other is I VVS1. Both are ACA and have an excellent HCA score of 0.9 My only qualm is that the I color is too low for a >2ct but I'm guessing since it's a VVS1, it'll shine 'brighter' than the HVS2? Being that it's $4K cheaper, is B the better 'deal' or is the color too low for a big size diamond like that?

I would ask WF to make you a video or at least take some photos of the two side by side.

The clarity shouldn’t affect the light performance of the diamond at these levels.

My choice would be A. I love the H VS2 combo + I love the high crown with a small table. That's just me...;)) when you are looking at VS and above the clarity have nothing to do with its sparkle it is the cut. Both of these are very well cut stone.

I’d go with the H but either will be a knock out!

Here is the video comparing the two:

I think the color preference is subjective. If the I bothers you in photos and videos, now would be the time to decide. I think the H looks whiter but that is my preference.

The side shot - they appear to have different undertones to my untrained eyes. The I looks like a browner undertone to me, as opposed to yellow?

Which does your eye gravitate towards more in the video / photo?

Of course I gravitates towards the H more ;-),but I don't know if the $4K surcharge is worth it.
I do see the brownish hue in the "I", looks more like a J color.....so kind of torn there too

If you have the 4000 usd as discretionary spending money. I would most definitely consider the H. There will be a difference between these two diamonds (that’s why they’re priced accordingly) and you seem to pick up the color difference - if you are color sensitive but don’t care about the tint - then by all means go with the I.

what color setting are you putting it in? To be honest I like both, i don't notice a big difference. But I do love a warm diamond, I have a J color in 18k Rose Gold so warm looks good in it.

Honestly, if you can afford it, I would get the stone you like. The I stone isn't a better value if it isn't what you want! I also don't think you should "settle" for such a large purchase. Granted, I realize there are always compromises. Color wouldn't be one I would make, but everyone is different, and price is a very legitimate reason not to buy everything your heart desires!

I ended up buying a very warm stone (M) and over time the color really bothered me. There were other issues with the stone, so maybe not the best comparison. But I ended up starting all over and buying a whiter stone.

I'm also seeing some brown undertones in the I VVS1. For 24k I would probably pick this stone over the H VS2.

Yes, I was looking at that one too for awhile, but the black 'crystal' inclusion in the middle of the table really bothered me...

I easily see the brown undertone in the I so I would eliminate it and go for the H. It is a beautiful stone and hits the 2 carat mark. My first stone was just under 2 carat and high color and I always wished my dh had gone a touch lower in color to get the 2 carat (doesn’t matter bc I’ve since upgraded anyway lol) but just to show you that she might think/feel the same! Although I’m color sensitive, H is probably the lowest I’d go before the tint starts bothering me.

I see it now that you mentioned it. Have you considered this 2.32 I VVS2 Expert Selection stone?
ES stones are a great deal if it is one that barely missed the ACA criteria. This looks to be one of those stones.

What ever happened to this guy? I know about 1,000,000 times less than these guys in the website, but I think this one is pretty It is from JA . Maybe someone with more experience, Could tell you why to reject this one and go for the other E6730996-217F-4891-9187-BC69574EBE6D.png

My decision was the security knowing that at WF, I can easily upgrade let's say on my 5 or 10 year anniv with the initial amount already invested in, and won't have to re-spend let's say another $30K for >2ct

Also, looks like that one is already snatched up or put on hold with someone else since your hold should have expired?

Yes, my hold expired

White gold, 6 prong with a pave band...similar to this one:

thoughts on whether the I color will "show"?

oh my goodness that setting is wonderful! I got ring envy just looking at it! I don't think I would be able to tell the difference between a H and a I. But even if you couldn't tell the difference, would it bother you knowing? Visually I think both will be gorgeous. It's just whether you think it's work the 4k to KNOW that it's an H and not an I. totally personal preference. :)

Is this setting going to be your everyday one? If so, it is a disaster waiting to happen with its tall head but also very thin at the bottom of it.

Do you mean the diamond won't be secure and prone to "fall out"? excuse my fledgling knowledge

It might break at the base of the basket/head.

Tough call! They are both such beautiful stones.

Split the difference? Too small? Would need to ask for video and possibly side-by-side with the other H and I.

Then for 5 year anniversary you can take her over the 2 carat mark...something to look forward to but in the mean
time she is very (very) close.

If you notice the color of the I and you already know you are compromising (for $4k), the feeling will not go away as you wear the ring. It will only get worse. Think bigger picture. $4k will be spent on other little things quite easily over the next year or so. Go for the H. You are getting advice from tons of people who have already made that very same mistake. At least you can benefit from our wrong choices.
