I bet it''s a light blue Aqua, Topaz or Sapphire. That''s what it looks like to me. Probably pretty big though--like around 10-12mm long. Emerald cut. I bet we could get it for pretty cheap. Or you could do it with an entirely different stone. I know how you are about purple. How about a light purple emerald? The sapphire would be pretty expensive...There are a lot of options...

No cool recipes here. This semester has been kicking my booty. I have to say it''s been a bit of an emotional rollercoaster, between my mom''s passing, my dog''s passing, getting two new doggies, and trying to get through the semester. School has certainly dropped a couple of levels on the priority list. Wedding planning has moved up. Getting a decent amount of sleep and some exercise have moved way up.

I did discover Trader Joes though....does that count for anything?

Brie is a chow/maybe shepherd/maybe blue heeler/maybe golden retriever/maybe coyote mix, and Nicky is maybe a basenji mix.

Whatever. I don''t care. I just think they are adorable.

Them sleeping together. She''s around 50 pounds now (we fattened her up) and Nicky is around 40--he needs to get down to around 35...it''s a work in progress...

Nicky came from prison. He was doing hard time...

No, he really came from prison. They have this program at the women''s prison where they take in dogs from the pound, and train them to be good citizens, and then adopt them out to homes. It''s about 12 weeks worth of training. Nicky was originally supposed to go home with one of the inmates when she got out, but it fell through because it turned out she wouldn''t be getting out until June, and the people in charge of the dogs decided that would be too long to have him sitting around in jail. He had already been there for 5 months. He really wanted to go back inside the jail when we brought him out to meet Brie.

He''s pretty people shy, and nervous around other dogs, but he absolutely adores me, whining when FI gets out of bed, and I don''t. And then he''ll check on me every 10-15 minutes until I get out of bed. He follows me around outside without the leash attached to me, and is very observant and obedient. He''s pretty awesome, even though he''s afraid of his own shadow.

Brie is very much FI''s dog, and follows him everywhere. She has made it known that she''s the head honcho dog, and because she''s bigger, she does pick on Nicky a bit. She''s more of a puppy, although we think Nicky is younger, and always wants to play with him. She does this crazy hip check (think hockey) and because she''s ten pounds heavier, it really does knock him around a little. However, he''s learned to fight back using his teeth. So he bites (he always has her fur in his mouth) and she bumps him around. It''s a great workout for him, and it keeps her energy level lower.

But they are best friends. We took them to the vet and they took Brie to the back, and Nicky got really worried and started whining and staring at the door until the vet brought her back. The sleep next to each other at the foot of the bed all night and they like to curl up together and veg out.

She''s a nutcase! We had just gone for a 3 mile or so walk, and she''s got this dense undercoat, so she was really hot, plus I swear she doesn''t know how to keep her tongue in her mouth! But it does show that she''s got the chow in her with that black part on the back of her tongue...

She is a goof. And a goon. She''s nuts. But so much fun. She does whatever she wants, whenever she wants, and doesn''t care what we do about it. Nicky is much more reserved and is always looking to us to make sure what he''s doing is ok.

Let me find this one really goofy picture of Brie. She''s got problems keeping that tongue in her mouth!

This is a typical pic of them playing. He was just standing there, and she decided it was play time, so she ran over, got on her belly and started squirming around to try to get him to play...

And this is normally how we see her...as a blur. I don't know how Nicky puts up with her sometimes...
