Thankyou Impatient and Dee for your votes!
Dee, what you mentioned about the bezel is smack on - I am most likely going to design my "perfect solitaire", which will have that bezel that sits just under the girdle, like in the Leon classic solitaire.

So just waiting for a few more bits of info from Jon, and I make a decision!

O....M...G!!

ha ha ha. i just tried on a 1.1ct in my lunch break, and I hate to say but it looked Huuuge on me!! they didn''t have anything bigger for me to try..
maybe I''m just used to seeing my itty usual ering, but 1.25 is gonna be ginormous!!

Honestly, it was like funny big - but in a great way!!

Arjuna Jane,
I have just read through this thread with interest, as I seem to be on a similar quest to you, planning an upgrade with similar specs...and on the same side of Australia to boot!

I have searched high and low for a solitaire that allows a flush fit with the wedding ring, and the only one that appeals to me was on the Abazias website, the ''Modified Cathedral Solitaire Engagement Ring'' Stock #ENG-S-99-10449

Unfortunately, this site does not offer an upgrade or buy back policy...

It''s seems extremely hard to find an engagement ring that will be kind to the wedding band next to it?!
I know you''ve said you''re considering bezel settings or something a bit different though.

Perhaps you should consider getting it custom after all, through WF or GOG (dependig on where you eventually select your diamond from)
Regarding your finger size

I was interested in your experience regarding US vs the Australian sizing system. I know the two systems are not a direct comparison.

According to the charts, my current size ''I'' ring is closest to a 4.5.
Only thing is, my I is probably slightly big, I couldn''t afford to go any looser, anyway, so I''m scared to go with 4.5 in case it''s slightly larger than size ''I''!!

Do you remember your Australian size?

for some reason couldn''t edit my post...

wanted to add that maybe the whole ''flush fit'' thing is just trivial? I mean, tonnes of ladies here have absolutely gorgeous rings, and don''t worry about the basket rubbing?!

sometimes I just want to get over myself with the flush fit thing...but can''t...quite...let go!??

Hi lara, thankyou for your post. That is so exciting, where abouts in WA do you live if you don''t mind me asking?
Cheers for the link to that setting - I wonder if they sell settings without stones.?

I agree its hard to find a flush fit set, however I went and tried on some stuff today and to be honest i''m starting to think we may be putting too much stock in it. I tried on a solitaire with a pave wedding band, both about the same thickness as what i would want. the head was buttercup shape so there was a slight gap, but it certainly wasn''t unattractive or annoying..

Re the finger size - I also had your same concerns about the translation of the sizing. However, when i recently bought my ring for my right hand from GOG, size 7, it seems pretty much spot on to what I was measured for here.
I never got measured for my ering in the Aust sizing I''m sorry, but I will be having it done asap so will get back to you.
Personally, I think go with a quarter size bigger than what you think if you''re not sure - always easier to have it sized down than up, from my understanding.

We had a couple discussions on the topic, I will try to dig up the thread for you.
