...A kicken RB, and with video too!

If you would like to see, this is the vid Jon made, second one down on page. http://www.goodoldgold.com/section.php?s=18

Here are the links too:

1.05 J http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3289/
1.12 I http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3738/
1.25 K http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3334/
1.28 J http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/2713/
1.35 J http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/3044/

According to Jon, they are all "honies" and therefore can't really differentiate on cut..so now I'm flip flopping over colour,
20.gif
and of course price.
Just for the record, unfortunately the 1.35 is outta my pricerange, otherwise it'd be in the post to me already!
11.gif

My common sense says to go with the 1.25 K Si1, and it looks totally *gorgeous* - in the video I can make out the slight tint when upside down on the white background - but can't see it when face up. J has been my "mindclean" level for colour - what do you guys think??

So, out of the first 4 which would you choose?
33.gif
1.gif
3.gif

#4 is on hold already! Tell me it''s for you?!
23.gif

I would choose the J or the K.
1.gif
I wish I could see the video but I can't seem to be able to view them now very easily.

I''ve put 3 and 4 on hold Honey
5.gif

I would''ve been so upset if one got taken while I was thinking!

You guys can still view them though right?

Hi lorelei. Sorry you can''t see the vid!
Can I pick your brain a bit more please..?
if you think I should be ok with the K, and for pretty much exactly the same size, cut etc to get the J is another $1000 - well, I''m having trouble telling myself that would be worth it.
What do you think ??

Of course! I know what I would do, if both diamonds are verified eyeclean ( and Jon probably has
emthup.gif
to both) then I would definitely pick the K for myself with that price difference, as personally even if there was a teeny tint, that wouldn't worry me as I love a bit of softness in a diamond rather than the ICY WHITE crispness, but thats me. Also the K has medium fluorescence which I like and may be beneficial. If you could see a bit of tint from the side, would that bother you? Or do you feel the $1k may be worth spending to get a 'mindclean' diamond?

Is the PoH staying or leaving?

Thankyou sweetey! Personally, I''m the same as you. I actually would choose an H over a D anyday, all things the same. Thats just my taste.
5.gif

Jon comments in the vid I think that this K with fluor is going to be basically indistinguishable from the J..
As for the seeing the side of the stone, I''m pretty sure I will get the x-prong which has that little lip of gold around the side of the stone - so the pavillion won''t be open anyway. Am I remebering the setting correctly?
If I don''t choose the vatche will most likely get a bezel or halo. I am too slack for a delicate thin setting!

But to answer your question, I don''t *think* I will care. I was just a lil concerned as this will be my ering so don''t want a "low" colour..
And if I really think about it, I would much rather keep the 1k or get a more elaborate setting.

Thankyou, spelling it out like that really helps!

You are most welcome!

As Jon has said that the K is virtually indistinguishable from the J, then that would be a deciding factor for me personally, as I would definitely trust his judgement, also would the 1k difference mean you could keep the PoH or does it have to go back to make this doable? But you have to go with your gut.

Ditto - if Jon thinks they would look the same, go the K - it''s not like you will have them next to each other for reference anyway, and I can think of lots of ways to spend the extra $1K - I have just starting thinking, hmmmm, maybe my ears would look purddy with diamond studs
30.gif

Tell me you get to keep the PoH - it''s such a gorgeous stone!!!

Hi AJ
I just watched the video and thought that they all looked gorgeous!!
30.gif
30.gif
30.gif
It''s also such a fantastic service that Jon provides, particularly when buying from a distance!
36.gif

When they were all face up next to each other under the spot lighting I was most attracted to the I (although I had thought it was one of the J''s until he said what they were), I can''t really explain why. When they were upside down it was easy to see the colour differences between the I, J and K , I thought, but I thought face up they all looked pretty similar, and very stunning.

I can see why you are torn between the J & K 1.2+''s, the only thoughts that I can offer is that you said you *think* you are OK with a K. I would not get it unless you are certain you will love the K, I don''t think it''s worth saving the $1000 if you won''t be 100% happy, because you don''t want to be second guessing yourself later, or spending more money to change it later. If you are not certain, I would take time to ponder it, or wait and see if something comes along that you are drawn to and 100% certain about. I think all the stones are beautiful, and the 1.2+''s were a beautiful size on Sarah''s hand.

Looking forward to seeing what you decide on! (Oh I love the Vache setting too!)

Thankyou lorelei and Honey - unfortunately no, the PoH will most likely go back as a trade in. Its not all about the money, its more that I will have my ering re sized to wear on my right hand, and I feel having all three is a bit excessive , just imho.
I know this is against religion for most PSers, lol, just for me I wear miinimal jewellery. I also think once I have that RB, its gonna be enough on its own!

BTW, what does everyone think about the 1.25ct on a size 3.5/4 finger? I think Sarah said she''s a 5 in the video - and to me that looked huge on her!
I''m really excited about getting the bigger size, but I hope it doesn''t look....fake?

Bling A, thankyou for your opinion.
1.gif
.You know, the more I think about the K the more comfortable I am with it. My comfort with J is just a mindclean thing anyway, not based on any real life experience. And I have to say my I colour PoH looks completely white to me - I don''t think I''ve ever seen any warmth in it. Maybe I''m not very colour sensitive, but I think thats a good thing!
5.gif

Jon has already checked all his resources and this is everything in my specs at this time - which is great though as I think there''s a really nice selection..

So does anyone have any other suggestions for settings? I''ve liked the vatche royal x prong for ages, but I''m definately open to suggestions.?

My vote would be for the J, if money was no option. I was just drawn to it. But if you want/need to save a grand, and you are sure you are ok with K color, it''s also stunning. And yes, if you get the X-Prong (lovely choice btw)
9.gif
, that would definitely help with the pavilion view.

I FINALLY got the video to work, it took forever, blast!! But I wanted to see it, and I was drawn to the K!!! But AJ, they are all KILLER stones and you can't pick a bad one!!

I prefer non ICY WHITE DIAMONDS personally.

Ellen, may I ask have you decided what you are going to do for a wedding ring for the x prong? I really llove it, but I chose my last ering without a view to a wedding ring and I''m starting to think it would be a bad idea to do so again..

Lorelei, I was hoping you''d watch the vid! I''m glad you gave the K the thumbs up! I''m getting really excited now!

Ok, but now having issues with what setting to choose..suggestions? Right now I like everything from the x prong to the legato with pave to Neatfreaks bezel - Love that ring btw!
So obviously, I''m open to suggestions. Only thing is I''d like it in yellow or rose gold, as I''ve decided white metals don''t do much for my tone..
And I really can''t spend much more than ~$1200..

Hehe! I persevered with the vid as I really wanted to see it, recently they have taken almost an hour to load for some reason. But anyway I did see it and I loved the K!!! I just love the soft warm white of these colour grades ( probably because I have one myself!)

I already have one, I bought this almost a year ago. I''m really happy with it, as it gives the stone center stage, which is just my personal preference, and it was cheap.

There are another set of pics on the second page.

Another thought besides a plain band, is the scattered diamond band from WF. I got the 5mm as part of my PS present to be worn as a RHR, but the 3mm would look fab in my opinion. Here''s the page with shots of the two together, which I took just for this very reason, to give others an idea of the two together.

Ellen and Lorelei,
What finger sizes do you have? I just checked out my pinkie just for fun and it is about size 2.25. I''m having a hard time imagining MrsS.'' ring finger being the same size as my pinkie.

* simpers* oh Ellen you are too kind!!

Oh, LOL! you ladies are too funny! Oh, please don''t ignore me!!

Honestly, there''s no reason for "finger envy" here - my hands aren''t dainty and small, they''re just, well...stubby!
Its been a couple of years since i was measured for my ering, but I seem to remember it being 3.something. However I''ve also put on weight since then, so we will see!

And Ellen, you have no reason to have any concern - you''re hands always look lovely! Always very tanned in your pics imo.
And I''m sure the same goes for Lorelei and Bling A too (I''m sorry I don''t have your pics handy..).
1.gif

Now, back on topic - Ellen ty for the links, your set is gorgeous, one of my faves of all time for sure.

I am in love with the look of a plain metal ering and a diamond band. Does anyone know if it''ll be possible to find a straight diamond band to sit comfortably with the x prong? Or should I look elsewhere for a different ering?

Thankyou all for your continued contributions - I think I have officially gone "diamond crazy"! lol

I just can''t say for sure. I''d ask Marie if she knows, or if there''s any way for her to find out. I love that look too! If this were my forever set, I would definitely give that a consideration.
