How I covet this ring...I''ve been eying it for MONTHS now, and for a while they took it off their site, and I had given up and figured that I''d have to get my own custom made someday...

You ladies know how I am about color and this ring is PERFECT for me: MUST HAVE IT!!!

Now I have to debate to get this or a loose gemstone...

Anyone have any thoughts?
33.gif

well....if you *must have it*
11.gif
2.gif

i don''t think it is a good enough showcase for a tsav....would you even see it?
33.gif
i''d put the $$$$$ towards a tsav you can really appreciate. of course, there is something to be said for those *must haves* though!
34.gif

do what you think will make you happy and enjoy it.
36.gif

i can''t wait to see whatever you get!

Not fussed I''m afraid - I''d buy a bigger tsavorite and have it half bezelled in a thick shank.

I agree, the stone is pretty small and it''s hard to tell what it really is. I would personally save the $$ for a yummy bigger Tsav. BUT.......if this is the ring that calls to you then go for it!!

Are you planning to buy it in the store? The tsavorite in the picture looks like a lighter colored stone (maybe because it''s smaller it shows up lighter?) so you might want to check out the exact stone/ring you''re getting before jumping. There''s an emerald center stone too, so maybe you could check those out if the color disappoints you (God forbid, really, fingers crossed for ya
12.gif
)in the store.

As long as it''s kept clean, I think the color will show from nearby. Not like how an e-ring pops, but with a more subtle, personal, intimate glow, you know? I can just picture you romancing the ring
1.gif
.... But to be honest, I don''t think people will notice it much from afar, but for personal enjoyment it looks yummy! It just wouldn''t look right with a bigger stone. (Then again, to be fair, it does look like a girl''s ring, if you know what I mean? As long as you don''t tire of it, I like the look!)

Ugh, I don''t think I''m helping much.. Of course it''s ultimately up to you girl!

If you're looking for a fun, inexpensive Tiffany piece, that ring looks like a great purchase!

I agree the stone isn't that big, though, and may not be noticed and you're only forseeable problem is that the ring spins and the stone ends up on the palm side of your hand. Can you look at it in person?

PRESSURE

Is the ring going to slip away again?.

That''s a lovely little ring - I''m sure you would treasure it. You know, we know...though... the names - Tiffany, Peretti... it''s overpriced for it''s components. Sometimes it just feels good to have exactly what you want NOW. I''ll pay more for big names... I''m not anti-label or anything. I''d say if you can have what you want now (that ring) and later (a loose gemstone), then get it. If you must absolutely decide between the two, I''d wait until you can shop some gems in - just to know for sure if a bigger, juicier one would make you happier. You may still decide on the ring!

Why don''t you contact Tiffany and check on the availability of that ring down the road? If they tell you it''s being discontinued or something, grab it!

I think it''s a sweet ring, but I''d use the scratch for a loose gem, and I half bezel it

Well, I''ve actually seen it in person and the tsav is TINY. But I love it anyway, its almost like a secret. I know that for raw cost of materials and even the the name(s) it''s ridiculously expensive but for some reason it just calls to me. Lately I''ve been drawn to the lighter stones and perhaps thats why I''m drawn to it so much is because I''m not looking for a bright jewel tone. When it first went off the site, I looked at the sapphire (favorite color) and the emerald (closest to the tsav) and they just don''t do it for me. I thought about having the infamous "Dot over an I" diamond put into a band similar to this one, but that''s going to have to wait for a while. They have a diamond band for $265 on the site as well. The next closest one that I really liked was the pink sapphire.

Right after it went off the Tiffany site there was one that came up on ebay for $185 and I didn''t bite although I was seriously tempted because it wasn''t from Tiffany itself and I have issues with ebay in general.

I could afford it when my tax return gets here or I could ask the BF to get it for me for my birthday. He offered to get it for me when we went to Vegas where I saw it in person, right after I joined PS, but I would have had to sacrifice my blue topaz bracelet, that of course I didn''t know about at the time because it was a Christmas present...

Can you tell I''m conflicted?

I know for some there is something special about a Tiffany piece, but me personally...I would spend the money on a larger stone. It is a pretty ring, though, so if that is what you really want, then you should get it!

I totally get the lust.

I have the sapphire version, and I wore it every day from when I got it until I got married. I love love love that little ring even though the stone is tiny. I bought mine off of ebay from the original owner and got lucky, it is actually authentic. Maybe you can save some pennies and you and your beloved can go in halvsies for some special occasion? Maybe your graduation?

Man, I should get that sapphire resized, I do love that thing!

FYI, those little rings bounce around on and off the website but they always seem to have them in the stores.

I have both the diamond and pink sapphire versions of this ring and both are very nice stacked together or apart. The pink sapphire really does stand out, as the pink is vivid. Additionally, I also have the pink tourmaline ring that Butterfly17 has been interested in. This is also a nice ring and will stack with the others.

I know what you mean! Big gems are always nice, but smaller treasures can be precious too! If you''ve seen it in person and like the way it looks on you, I don''t see why not to get it? It''s not like the thing you''re lusting after is the million euro phone in the other thread LOL (although I honestly don''t see why anyone would lust after that horror! Your lemming the ring is perfectly sweet!

)

I think that little ring and a tsavorite ring with a center stone are two totally different things. You''d buy this ring because you want some Tiffany stacking bands. You''d buy a loose tsavorite if you want a tsavorite ring.

Yay! Other people have them! Can we see some pics of them? I've only seen the Tiffany pics (which make the stone seem about 1/4 inch!) and the awful pics that the woman had taken of the ebay ring. I'm wondering how wide the band is because Tiffany doesn't list any specs for anything on their site.

Diamond version on ebay for $225

Another of the Diamond version for $150 Buy it now price

Another Diamond version for $49

An Emerald version for $85 (the Tiffany bag looks funny to me on this one)

And finally a Sapphire version for $49 Buy It Now at $110

DDThe thing is, I don't like it because it's Tiffany, I just really like the design of the ring itself. Although I've never owned a T&Co piece, I guess I can see the appeal for the branded pieces but that really isn't what appeals to me. Knowing me, I'd probably like it more if it weren't Tiffany. Actually I know I would because it'd cost around $50-75 instead of $215, but it's not something I want to go custom for unless I can't get it anywhere else.

Mercoledi- I don't graduate for until December '09, so I don't even want to think about waiting that long. When BF and I saw it in Vegas I considered buying it, but told myself that I could get it later on the internet. When it was gone, I was crushed. I remember telling him that I wouldn't even mind it as an engagement ring-that's how much I love it.
23.gif
Resize it! Resize it! But first, take pics!!

Omieluv- As soon as I get the tsav one, I know I'll start wanting the pink sapphire one. Ugh.
20.gif
Perhaps I could get the tsav from BF for my b-day and the pink from the 'rents for my b-day.

onvacation- I SO WANT THAT PHONE! JK!! I saw the thread and haven't even looked at the pics. I'm not sure I want to. Can't you get that look with crystals already anyway? With the way I'm dropping my phone all the time and leaving it places, I think I'll just stick with my plain blue 2 year old Motorola PEBL. Anyway, I love the ring because it's plain and simple. I'm never going to be a pave girl, I'm never going to be a halo girl either, and I think this ring epitomizes what I like in jewelry. I think the most bling I'd ever get would be some surprise stones on my solitaire e-ring...

DS- I think you've hit the nail on the head.

Anyone who has pics, if you could please post them, that would be awesome!

Ugh I just noticed that the only sizes they have ATM at 4.5, 5, 7, 7.5 and 8.
32.gif
23.gif
I guess I''d have to get the 7 and get it sized to 6.5ish (not sure what the size of the finger I''d want to wear it on...

Hiya
35.gif

There's actually a pic in my avatar right now, though I admit it's super stylized. The ring is about 2.5mm, I measured it for this thread, though you can't see the stone there. The band is rounded but flattend out, really nice for stacking with anything.

You actually inspired me to shine it up and wear it today! I wear it with my wedding band so I'm always self conscious that someone will think its my e-ring and that DH was super- cheap.

Actually, I wouldn't have minded getting the diamond one as an e-ring and the emerald (this was before the green tsav) as a wedding band; one from me, one from him and one from us.

I'll dig around and see if I can find more pics. And honestly, just go to or call Tiffany's, I'm sure there's a 6.5 somewhere in stock.

Lookie what I found! Note that my ring is beat to hell for being banged against my diamond at baseball games. Ces''t la vie!

Hand shot with my 3.2mm wedding band. Mine is a 6.

Awww thanks Mercoledi!!I really love it, and sent an email to BF with the link yesterday and this is what he said when he got home:

BF-"So I'll take that email as a hint."
Me-"What email?" (I had no idea what he was talking about!)
BF- "The one for Tiffany's."
Me- "Oh THAT one! Um, I guess so."
BF- "Well your birthday is coming up pretty soon."
Me- "Don't remind me! I checked the availability of the ring and they only have it in a few sizes now."
BF- "Well what size do you need?"
Me- "I'm not sure, But I'm guessing we'd have to get a size seven and then size it down."
BF- "That's kind of stupid to not have them in all sizes."
Me- "Well...what can you do?"

So it seems as though he's planning on getting it for me for my birthday, which totally throws out the plan for me to get a spinel and get him to set it for my birthday, but I'm still getting a ring that I thought was pretty much out of the picture for a few more years. Yay!

ETA: We don't have a Tiff's here in NM so I'd have to call. I think the closest would be in either AZ or CO, so we'd definitely have to order either on the phone or off the internet. I think I'll let him think about it, after all he knows it's there and he knows theres limited quantity...

I will attempt to take pictures of both of my stacking rings this evening, but my camera is terrible, so no promises!

My boyfriend told me he ordered the pink sapphire ring from Tiffany''s website. He was impressed with how easy it was to order, so I do not think you should have trouble ordering from Tiffany''s site. Still do not understand why he ordered it online, since we have several in my area. I guess that is a guy for you!

Honestly, he should probably just call the 800 number. When we were designing our wedding bands I asked the jeweler to redesign or at least re-size my bitty sapphire and she did not want to touch it since it's Tiffany. Also for pieces like this Tiffany ususally doesn't even re-size it unless you ask specifically, they just get you one in the right size.

Call Tiffs, make them send the right size to your door. The joy of working with high-end retailers is that you can do that
2.gif
! For $200 in sterling, I'd want the *amn thing to fit; not to have to pay someone else $50 to make it fit.

Problem is, I still don't know what the right size is. I'm going with my best guy friend to look for valentines jewelry for his girlfriend (my best girl friend!) and I'll find out when I'm harassing the maul jewelers.

Omieluv-I want to see some pics! You should see how bad mine are!! I need to get a camera with Macro on it.
20.gif

I'm with you on the $200 chunk of sterling silver fitting...I'm find out the size tomorrow and then advise the BF. Heh...

I''m glad for you!

Okay, these really stink, but you asked for them! BTW, ring size = 6 and these are in sterling silver.

You can see how the pink sapphire really pops. The diamond does sparkle very nicely IRL, just could not capture it.

Holy cow that sapphire is practically magenta! Its gorgeous! I love love love them!!!!!

Thats it, I'm sold.

UGH. So when I first looked the sizes they have online at 4.5, 5, 7, 7.5, 8. Yesterday it was, 4.5, 7, 7.5, and 8. Now it's 4.5, 5, 7.5, 8, and 8.5.

WTF?
29.gif
You can only size ring 1.5 down or up right?

ETA: I went to a maul store today and tried to get my finger sized. My fingers were super swollen from walking around the whole place and she tells me that my right ring finger is a 7.5. Which it's not. My middle finger is an 8, but it's had a rough life from playing volleyball when I was younger, and it's because of the knuckle being big. I told her it was swollen, and she tells me that she likes her rings loose, so that's what she would wear if she were me. When I got the sizing rings I tried on the 6.5 and it was a bit snug, but again, my fingers were terribly swollen. I've tried to wear a 7 or so on that finger before and its fallen off very easily. So she tried to make me feel like an idiot and she insulted my poor *fat* fingers. I should go back and start throwing words like "asscher" around. Stupid cow.

Ya know, the rings I have from Tiff are nice, but, not worth the mark-up...ya know what I mean? I would not have purchased these on my own though (got them as a gift), rather put the money toward a nice RHR gem stone ring. Maybe I am saying that now because I have my stacking rings. Of course, if you are in love with them, go for it. The diamond is actually my favorite, though the color of the sapphire is very nice too. It just occured to me that I forgot to take a picture with my other Tiffany stacking ring...I will try to get a good picture this weekend.
