I pulled the trigger this morning, I'm breathless. We have been married since the time of Moses & I've never had an engagement ring, didn't want one till I could find & afford exactly what I like -- and having found you terrific gem addicts where I felt right at home, I did some shopping over the past couple of months.

Narrowed it down (after going back & forth over about 40 temptations) to a 1.8 ct greenish-blue cushion tourmeline, beautiful color but I wasn't absolutely crazy about the saturation. Then there was the Asscher blue spinel; after much anguish, decided the lack of scintillation just wasn't gonna make me happy. Wanted a stone that would go well with my emerald & diamond half-eternity & today bought a nice tsavorite from Tan. 1.64 ct, VVS1, very good brilliance & color & all the rest. This pic doesn't do it the justice Tan's video showed. I only hope I like it as much as I hope I will! My first PS purchase.

Hi there! That is a pretty intense green color! I believe that the window will close in a setting =) though it seems a little wide from the photos. Looking forward to see photos of it IRL :)) Good luck to ur first PS purchase, Hope you'll like it! Btw, I love green

Congratulations!!! I'm glad you found a stone that sang to your heart.

You know, Chictomato, I looked over & over at the video of the stone & it looks like reflection rather than a window. We'll see. If it is windowed it will go back. Not much lost but the green is so intense, it was worth a peek IRL.

ETA: Also, it is not cut shallow: Dimensions are 7.5 x 6.2 x 4.2, another reason I decided to give it a look.

Congratulations, JewelFreak -

This is such a fabulous and unique way to get that engagement ring you never received! Congrats on your first colored stone purchase!

Congratulations on your first CS purchase, it's great to hear how excited you are about it. And, even if it does end up having a small window when you get it, don't automatically write it off if the color is wonderful and you love everything else about it. I think we've all seen how fabulous some stones can be even if they do have a bit of a window.

:appl: Congratulations on your first purchase! Looking forward to your pics when it comes!

Thanks for the good wishes, everybody. I love the color -- about the rest, we'll see. Will post pics good or bad -- either way, it's a learning experience. And if it is windowed, I'll send it back -- it's not as if I'm in a big hurry, haha!
