OEC Lab Diamond 2.28 G/VS1 - with 1.84 G/VS brilliant & pear cluster halo in platinum

After a bad experience with my first diamond from Tianyu, I decided to go in a different direction and have Debebian’s cut this one for me. Cut and sparkle were most important to me for this ring. I didn’t want to see any brown tint in this CVD. The lab diamond is bright and white and has a lot of presence on the finger. I was debating on going with OEC halo stones and antique cut pear’s but I went with my jewelers advice to stick with brilliants on the halo. After wearing it for a few days now, I agree. It’s a little fancy for my everyday life but not so big it is uncomfortable to wear. I used the same design as my sapphire halo so it sits really low on the finger.

@swaye2010 your ring is absolutely stunning!!! I love the pears with the OEC and halo!!

My apologies for threadjacking, but did you request anything specific (I.e. I want an open culet, xyz depth, etc) or did you just tell them what mm size you wanted and left the rest up to them? I’ve asked them about a pair of 6.5mm stones for earrings and am trying not to nitpick, but it’s scary to buy something like this sight unseen. Can you tell me what the process was like for you? Thank you so much!!

I asked for fat petals and a pinhole culet. I wanted a smaller table and high crown. I wouldn’t say it is as high as what I see on a DG stone though.

I tested it first by getting the halo stones cut for my sapphire ring. I liked how they turned out so I ordered the OEC. It ended up being around the same price that Tianyu quoted. I know he prefer’s to cut them more precision then by trying to recreate a new version of an old cut. If you have some ideas about angles you would like to see, I am sure that is something that could be worked out. The best thing to do is just call their main number and speak to Sam or Maggie. They have been doing this a long time In LA.
