OEC Journey Continues - Stone thoughts

Hello again all!

My journey for an OEC continues. I’ve been searching online and through diamond cutters and I’ve also been working with a lovely local jeweler to source a stone. They were able to show me this one today which I really like, but wanted to get some feedback on. My fear with this one that the facets are too pointy/precise instead of bubbly or more petal like, but also understand that could be a warped perception on my part from seeing these mostly online. To me it's beautiful. What are your thoughts? In the real world no one critiques your ring like we do on PS. We are always nit picky so that you get the best price. But we are internet strangers hoping to do good. Your eyes will always be the final determination.
 
It looks very promising to me. It looks nicely cut and also has a good antique vibe -- it seems authentic looking. Most lab old-style cuts don't tick both of these boxes.

I wonder if you have any pictures or video in other lighting? Diffuse daylight is helpful.

I also wonder if you have seen any other comparitors in person or if you are comparing this stone to pictures and videos.
 
I do think it’s very beautiful. Sadly I wasn’t able to get much natural light. The first video was an attempt at more indirect light. The link below has a comparison stone that I didn’t like (the 9.4 mm) first then another video of the one I do like (the 9.1) in more direct lighting in the store. The 9.1 is 5200 which is a bit steep in comparison to come others i’ve come across online.

I asked them to keep hold of it for awhile. They are going to try to source a few more from me, and I am waiting to see one from Southwest later this week.
 
Hi, what color are the labs stones you are looking at? And how color sensitive are you?
 
Yes the current lab stone is much nicer than the first lab stone video. I also think the .91 natural diamond is very well cut. The larger natural diamond (final video) is not.

Both labs are D color!

My captions got weird on my imgur link somehow. The first two videos are the labs, the second two photos are the naturals I was able to see.

I think it will come down to my thoughts on the Southwest diamond. I have one video, but it became grainy from being compressed in email. More will be sent later this week! Here is the link to it, but like I said the quality isn’t fabulous. It’s an E, 9 mm.

What's the price on the lab from the local jeweler vs the southwest one?

I prefer the cut on the local one to the southwest one. The patterning is prettier.

local is 5200, SW is 2500.

They will! They’ve also encouraged me to keep looking on my own if that’s something I’m interested in and they’ll set anything I source, so it’s been a great experience in that regard. The price is hard to swallow though when I know what things typically run
 
That is a big differential. Have you seen many natural OECs irl? There is so much good value right now. I haven't found anything close to 9 mm but there are ones close to 8.4 mm for less than $10k.

i’ve only seen those two I posted! Haven’t been able to spot any more locally. Would love to see the 8.4s you’re talking about! I have been looking online and through ig sellers etc

I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase from him in the future; in fact, after looking for our stone for 18 months, it came down to two stones, one of them was his. 47 Jewlers has some of the best pricing and so many to choose from. AGREE!!! They have upped thier game over there! LOL! I just bought 2 old mines from him, good prices and he has some things you cant find elsewhere! I am happy with my 47 Jewelers purchases!

I agree I like the local jeweler one better... but it really only matters if you love it! I have a particular 'cut' i really like, and its not for everyone, but i really love it... and since i am wearing it that's all that matters... so when you look at it, do you love it??

As for the price, i paid over $10k for my 2 OECs (one is now with Missy!) and that is INSANE when you look at todays prices... however, i absolutely LOVE it and that made it worth paying double the price to me!!! I would pay it again even today because i love it so much So if you love it and dont think you will see better then who cares if it's "overpriced" buuuut if you think you can do better or arent "over the moon" with it (which it doesnt sound like you are) then I would keep looking.

Sorry for the hijack earlier! I moved my OMCs over to the other thread I have about my cheap OECs lol

Just wanted to recommend 47jewelers... however, I find they're good for OMC labs not so much OEC labs.

Yeah I agree with @Inked re price as there is a premium for a nicely cut stone and sometimes it’s worth paying.
 
I agree - i’m willing to pay a good chunk for one I love!! And I do think this one is beautiful, but you’re right @Inked, Its not love at first sight! They’re getting some for me to see and my Jeweler told me Friday she thinks she found one or two I’ll really like!
I’ve also not ruled this one out. It may be my favorite out of all the ones I end up seeing.
 
Wanted to shoot an update - I found this beauty stuck incorrectly in the round section of LGD (which I have looked at every day for about a month lol) and ordered it. It was too beautiful to me to let it go and is has been one of the first stones I've seen that I had such a strong reaction to. If I don't love it in person, return is my best friend.
