ctd. If you ever wondered what a flowering orchard filled by high mountain clouds looks like:

Screenshot_20200120-183332.png

My camera refuses to transfer files [this is what my phone does - it is ancient & hardly ever used, I live on long emails instead - so is the job], else there would be a flood of such pictures. The many shades of pink remind your ring @Scandinavian !

Beautiful photo @AV_ !

You are doing a great job Missy! (ya, urinal duty isn't the best...lol) There is major pain associated with this procedure--the good news is, it does diminish. He is still pretty fresh post -op so he isn't complaining for nothing.

Keep healing and carry on!

cheers--Sharon

@missy You’re emptying urinals and I’m putting drops in my husband’s nose twice a day. We know how to party! I know it’s tough..I’m just trying to make you laugh..I asked my hubby how long I need to do it. He said forever...I deserve my bling..

Hi NIRDI’s!

@Scandinavian hoping this is the last round of chemo for your mom and it succeeded as intended. Sending mega dust and comforting thoughts to her and hugs to both of you.

@missy I am hoping Greg is not in as much pain tonight. It seems like my dad had to use that ice machine for about a week; is that right? I am glad to hear both the PT and nurse did come yesterday. I hope Greg isn’t as cold today. Poor guy. How are you holding up? It is interesting how people dress in different weather. It seems like most kids I see around here even in our coldest, snowiest weather just wear a hoodie. I’d be freezing. I am so glad to hear they did give Greg some more pain pills. Oh no that Oliver continues to be on a destructive binge.

@Jimmianne are you feeling okay and noticing way better vision? Funny you checked on the procedure now; that’s what I’d do too.

@Austina I didn’t even use my new blanket today. I never got cold enough. I even took in a thermometer because I was curious how cold it gets - it never got below 72.7. I will see if it changes. My guess is on really windy days it gets colder in our poorly insulated building. Or I may just be a whiny baby because I am always cold. Wow that sounds like quite a show at the gym; I am sure he was trying for something to scream police brutality. Glad no one was hurt because of his antics. How exciting Adam and Kim have set a date.

@AV_ low clouds are pretty cool to see. Good luck with your draft. Gorgeous tree. I love the flowers.

@Tekate good point about physicians tracking their patients and their drug usage. You would think they could judge by someone’s character. I am sorry you’ve had so much pain. I love almost burnt, crisp bacon. I guess that is why I like Canadian bacon better. It’s lean.

@canuk-gal I totally get how exciting it can be when it gets to 6 degrees; woo hoo a heat wave. I hope it continues to warm up for you.

@Mamabean yes you deserve your bling and I can’t wait to see all of your new treasures.

I worked today. One of the guys who has the same position as Marty was let go today. That is sad and scary.

Take care.

@marcy I have this great hand at picking companies to work for - all barely survived me by months ,( a few never got beyond starting up. I haven't even had a proper scie until this year.

Hi everyone! I've fallen behind...My sister, her dh, and their dog ended up staying with us in SC because their condo is being renovated and they needed a place to stay for a few days. It's been fun but there's also been a lot going on.

@missy, I'm very sorry Greg is still in so much pain. I'm glad he has enough pain meds to see him through, and I hope he doesn't need them for long. It's been a hectic few days and hopefully once he's more comfortable things will settle down and you can get into a more normal routine.

@Jimmianne, I am really happy to read your surgery went smoothly and your vision has improved. Terrific news. I can't get over what a fabulous job Tony did on your ring..looks like a brand new setting!

@Mamabean, so sorry for your serious health scare, it must have been an awful time for you and your family. I'm really looking forward to seeing all your completed sparklies. That ACA is going to be so amazing.

@Tekate, your hair turned out great! It's a shame John is suffering so much from his allergies. I hope you're having fun with your sweet Autie. Sorry to hear about your shoulder pain, chronic pain is so hard to deal with.

@marcy, I'm sorry your knee is giving you so much trouble. You are doing such an amazing job with your lifting. Thank you for your kind words about my mother.

@Scandinavian, I'm thinking of your mother as she starts this next round of chemo. She has been through so much, and I know it's been hard on you seeing her go through it.

@bling_dream19, sounds like you have been on the go and I hope now that you're back home you settle in soon. Don't stress about anything...you will eventually get everything straightened out!

@Austina, wow, what a strange and unsettling experience at the gym. Sorry you had to deal with that.

@AV_, what a beautiful picture, and such a lovely place. I hope things are going well with your draft.

dh and I are headed back to NJ tomorrow. It's been pretty chilly here but at least we missed the snow up north!

Take care everyone!

You're so sweet @junebug17 you give great advice. How wonderful your sister hubby and dog got to spend quality time with you and your dh. That's what life is all about. Hope you have a great week!

@missy you and Greg are on my mind all day. I hope his pain is managed and you are taking care of yourself too in the midst of taking care of your dh. Sending you hugs and healing dust, strength and humor!
@Scandinavian thinking about your mom a lot. Hope you are ok and sending strength and healing to her.

June, looks like you hit “the South” at the coldest temps this year! Glad you had a good time though. Wow to having house guests with pooch! That would be alot going on. Now...if you can just get some decent weather in NJ.

Austina, I also hate seeing altercations, they are so unsettling. I’m glad the police were eventually able to whisk the guy away, probably to a psych evaluation.

Scandi, sending good vibes for your Mom this morning. I saw photos of your fur babies in another thread and they are beautiful.

Missy, good morning...as you and Greg begin “the next round”, i.e., another day to navigate together towards healing. Yay for getting more pain meds. Thank goodness!

AV, your posts crack me up. I’m really enjoying seeing your helpful and fun comments on PS lately. Hope you are doing well. Beautiful photo!

Marcy, good morning sky sister. A Snoopadoodle day to you! How about more heart photos??!

Mamabean, yes, you and Missy sure know how to party! Not sure if I mean nursing DHs or rocking gems...

Hi Sharon, are you getting warm yet? I think we got a bit of your cold weather, but happy to have it if it means you are back to a balmy minus 10 or whatever it is right now.

Bling dream, I hope this is a good day for you!

Tekate, what a great haircut. Isn’t it nice when everything falls into place??? Hair...life...

I bought another Sepkus ring yesterday. Shoot me now. Just kidding...I love them! But this nonsense has got to stop. All I’ve been doing is chilling out with my best friend “eBay” while healing. Eye is improving by the hour & I’m marveling at being able to see even the tiniest little twigs on the tops of trees. It’s a beautiful world

@Jimmianne I smiled when I read your post that you are enjoying seeing the little twigs in the trees...I’m so happy your eye surgery went well. We take things for granted sometimes..I may complain to myself about how age is affecting me...but so far all my parts are working...They're not as good as a 20 year old but enough to be happy.
@marcy I’m with you on not getting knee surgery unless absolutely no other choice...just like Greg..I heard it’s brutal..After hearing @Tekate tell how much pain she was in with with hers...and seeing and hearing about poor Greg...I will wait...Fortunately..my knee isn’t bad. I have arthritis in it that flares up every so often...Once..the pain lasted four months..I actually would cry sometimes and I have a high pain threshold..One day I woke up and it felt better..It was the strangest thing..
@junebug17 It sounds like you enjoyed your visit with your sister and family. I‘m sure it was a lot if work but it’s nice you were able to let them stay during the renovation..I don’t know where you are in NJ..but we lived in Chatham, NJ a while ago..That‘s where I went the weekend before last. We are such a noticeable group when we go out that I don’t mention it on here until after we’re home. This coming weekend we are going to another hotel for the weekend. My hubby is going to see a game with his brother...and will be gone all day Saturday. David got a trip in a hotel with a pool for one of his presents. I’ll say where when we get back. :cool2: Unfortunately I pulled the side of my back yesterday putting away the last of the Christmas decorations...and I’m worried I won’t be able to drive there...I took Excedrin..so hope it works..I can’t take Advil...which works wonders..but I can’t take that..
Off to take care of David for work..

GM lovely ladies.

LOL you sure do deserve your bling Joanne and haha yes we are really quite the partiers. Not. I cannot complain because I only emptied the urinal thing twice. Greg is now very mobile and emptying it himself and using the bathroom most of the time and only using the urinal thing in the middle of the night. Because of his stent (due to the kidney stones) and the meds he is on for the kidney stones he is peeing every hour so that is why he needs the disposable urinal thing. But he is doing knock wood much better. XO.

@Tekate thank you dear great Kate. Greg is doing better and the pain is less. And he has the additional pain meds if he needs them. How are you doing? How is Autie? That photo of Autie is super precious. What a gorgeous sweet girl. Any updates with the architect? How is John doing re his allergies? Just yesterday my allergies started up and I wonder if it is dust since we have been inside most of the time for the past few days. Though I have been running back and forth to the pharmacy and the supermarket. What are your plans for today? Hugs.

@Austina woohoo on Adam and Kim (sort of) setting the date! How exciting. :appl: Greg got more pain meds and all is good. In fact, he isn't really using them round the clock anymore so even better. Fingers crossed that continues. XO.

@AV_ that is a stunning photo. Reminds me of the photos my parents took in Central Park in the sixties. Love it. Hugs.

@Scandinavian bucketloads of continued healing dust and good thoughts for this round of chemo for your mom. Hugs and lots of love going both your way.

@marcy he rented it for two weeks but will probably continue renting for 6 weeks due to the compression ability the machine has and that compression function Greg should be allowed to start using in about a week I think. Greg is doing better re pain. He is still cold when using the ice machine. I am sorry that person who had the same position as Marty was let go yesterday. That is scary. Please tell me how you are loving the new heart bling. Hope you have a good Tuesday. XO.

@bling_dream19 love your 1 year engagement anniversary bling. It looks gorgeous and is meaningful too. Thank you for all your comforting words and good humor and encouragement and all your kindness. Means so much to me. Hugs.

@Jimmianne woohoo another Sepkus ring. You deserve it girl! You do and you rock those rings. They were created for you and I am so glad you get much pleasure and joy from them. Life, as we know it, is short and we cannot control that but we can control the sweet. At least to some degree we can control how sweet we make it. So bring on the bling and keep life sweet. Hugs.

@junebug17 how nice you could have your family stay with you while they are renovating. That is love and while hectic it is also nice to be together and helping them out like that. I hope the weather is cooperating by you and that you are having a lovely time away.

@canuk-gal is the warm up continuing? I wore my red Olang boots the past few days (since it snowed Saturday here) and I even wore them yesterday without any snow on the ground. I love these boots and whenever I wear them I think of you. Hope you are having a good week. Hugs.

@Niffler75 thank you very much. PT coming today and I will ask about the TENS. How is your week going? May I ask what your speciality is? I have such a huge admiration for nurses. Hardest job ever and you really are the bedrock of the medical community. Thank you for being in such a worthwhile field where you make a huge difference.

Greg is doing better re pain and taking less pain meds. Hope that continues. Of course when he does his exercise the pain level goes up but definitely an improvement as far as I can tell. He is sleeping OK too. Yay for that. Today the PT is coming I hope and with each day I hope Greg makes improvements and feels better.

Hope everyone has a lovely day and sending you hugs.
Leaving you with Tommy hanging out with us as we relaxed yesterday evening watching TV in the living room.

@ missy Glad Greg is doing better. :dance:You should see a big difference in the next week or so. Sleep is so important for him too and will aid immeasurably with the healing process.
I qualified as a nurse in 1996. Surgical nursing was always my thing and specialised in ortho and anesthetics. Unfortunately then got v ill and had to have brain surgery. (My husband always jokes it's a miracle they found a female brain ;)2). Back to work I had to slow things down and worked in the community with homeless and vulnerable people.
Currently not working as have a wonderful son with additional needs who I adopted 5 years ago. :kiss2:

Wow what an amazing road and so glad you are well now and that you can stay home and care for your son. That is a blessing. Though you aren't currently working in your chosen career you are still using your wonderful skill set with your son. He is (as is your DH) lucky indeed.

Thanks that's really kind :hand: . Having a kiddo with additional needs is wonderful but can also be a bit isolating at times. Finding an online community with the same interests is fantastic!

@missy That’s the best news I heard today that Greg is moving and is feeling a bit better. If I ever have that surgery I’m going to stockpile pain pills beforehand! I think the fact that he’s in good shape will
help in his recovery. Fingers crossed he improves every day!

@Niffler75 I have a 34 year old son with Autism so I definitely understand. It’s amazing that you took on the challenge of adopting him with special needs. There’s a special place in heaven for you. I have my 94 year old mother living with me too. My son is a piece of
cake....not that he’s easy ..She’s mobile..It’s her attitude that’s challenging..

You should definitely not let fear stop you if and when you need knee replacement. We have friends who did double knee replacement and they say it was the best thing they ever did. After getting through the rough time which is to be expected. Plus I’m here for you when the time comes. XO.

I know it’s not the same thing but I worked with developmentally delayed children and adults for over 2 decades and it was the most rewarding and challenging experience. But I got to go home each evening so not the same thing. Just to say I have a little taste of how each day brings challenges to you and how much I admire you adopting your son and giving him a wonderful life. Both of you lucky indeed.

@Niffler75 Funny not funny joke, then again, you know your patients & no one else ,)

@junebug17 I do not know how my draft is going until it gets sent to a few readers - in a week or so [just as the weather will turn]. I dislike writing unless short, else it is sort of talking to oneself... yet it is impossible to not do at least long-ish letters & there are always just a few readters for such things. [ digressing -Twitter - if only academic writing worked this way, and indeed it does, if beyond its rules: I have read folks abstracting decades of the best work in less than five tweets in a row - to burry dead ends, & this is also at least half of the the best of meeting & talking in person ,) I am not sure who came up with the idea of dialogue - it is hardly possible to get a chaining of such things.]

@missy I am counting thirty hours since Greg's surgery, and your report of serious improvement can only be right, else this whole thing would be unbearable. @Mamabean I wonder if the pain you are describing is any worse than post op! I know I would not put up with as much without sticking a knife in it.

I am watching in disbelief weather news about Northern Spain, @Austina - the only unusual thing here is having grayish skies instead of blue, like the whole of winter in much of Europe. Notably, this means I will have my almonds slowed into flowering a full week longer - or more; half of them will be starting at once, on the first warm day, some time next week; if I do not manage a good shot of almond flowers then, there may not be such a day in years ,)

Have a great day, NIRDI & all who are reading too

Hello lovelies

Oh no @marcy, how devastating for your work colleague. Everything crossed that Marty won’t be in the same position anytime soon. Good that you didn’t need your lap blanket, but I’m sure you’re not being whiney, if it’s cold, it’s cold, and sitting in one place, you definitely feel it more.

Sounds like you had a fun, but busy time @junebug17. I’m sure your sister and BIL were very grateful to be able to spend time with you during their renovations. What sort of doggie do they have? (You can tell I’m having withdrawal from not having my Dottie) I hope you had a safe journey back to NJ.

@Mamabean you deserve every piece of your bling collection, you’re a great Mum, daughter, wife and friend. Sounds like you’re going to have fun this weekend, so look out world!! :D

You can’t tell us you’ve bought a new ring and not show us @Jimmianne  You must have quite the Sepkus collection now, is this new ring the thin band you were looking for? Honestly, I think the guy at the gym was carrying on so that he could claim he was mentally ill.

Hi @bling_dream19, how’re you?

Beautiful photo @AV_ I hope the cold weather doesn’t damage the blossom.

Hi @Niffler75, sounds like you’ve been through the mill with your brain surgery, your DH’s comment sounds like something my DH would say :lol-2: What a selfless thing to do to adopt such a special boy, I’m sure he brings you much joy.

Yay @missy, that’s such good news that Greg is feeling more comfortable, he’s doing so well considering he only had the surgery a few days ago. I hope he got on well with the PT today, and continues not to need to take so many meds. Such a cute photo of Tommy keeping you company. I remember you mentioning Schitts Creek somewhere, and we’ve just started watching it, weird by funny

It’s freeeeezing here, I went to Pilates this morning, and there were only 3 of us, so we had a really good session as well as having a good chat. I’ve just put a chicken and mushroom pie in the oven for dinner, we need comfort food in this weather, brrrrrrrrrrrr!

I hope all the lovely NIRDIs are doing well, continuing to keep you and your family in my thoughts @Scandinavian, sending good wishes to @Slick1, hope you feel better soon.

Keep warm and safe :wavey:
