I found the diamond below on line at a very reduced price and am not sure if I can trust it. I understand the basic 4 C's of diamonds, but the measurements, depth and table numbers are a little over my head right now. Can anyone shed some light? Thanks!

that''s enough to make most folks shudder around here... EGL Israel is known for being very ''loose'' in their grading

see if you can get an ASET image. also, check out their return policy. but i think the general consensus will be to pass...

Princess and other fancy shapes really need to be evaluated either in person or with online stones, via high quality photos and ASET images. The numbers themselves only give a limited amount of information and should not be the basis for a decision to purchase, but can raise some red flags and be the basis for the decision to not purchase.

The red flag here is that a 77% table is very large and will most likely result in poor fire and a lot of table glare. That combined with the EGL Israel grading would cause me to pass and continue looking, unless ASET and images are easily available. Most likely the pricing is a reflection of how the stone compares to those graded by GIA or AGS. The color and clarity grading could easily differ by two grades.

Hi therapist!

Ditto Jet and Tony. Would you like some help to try to find a well cut diamond? If you give us your budget for the stone and your requirements we might be able to find some suitable diamonds for you?

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback, it''s greatly appreciated. Can you tell me then is it better to have a table% and depth% that are closer to eachother? You mentioned that the table% of 77 is too much. I know my boyfriend has been doing some diamond shopping, but I''m looking on the side and giving him tips and any good deals I see. If you wouldn''t mind looking and seeing what you can find, that would be great. I''ll list the basic characteristics below. Thanks again.

Carat: 2.0
Cut: Princess
Clarity: Probably S1 (as long as you can''t see the inclusions)
Color: G, H or I (as long as it appears clear to the naked eye)
Setting: Platinum, single setting

budget?

Oh yes, sorry. Between $8000 and $10,000.

It is a general rule of thumb that the table percentage is less than the depth percent, also images are essential when buying Princess as you can''t tell much by numbers.
