Not-of-this-Earth specialty-cut grudge match! (I.e. show me your LGD specialty cuts.)

Pretty! Post pics when you get it. I have never seen an asscher with a 49% table.

I think its a pretty good asscher. But I just didnt love it. Ive concluded that I need more sparkle in my diamonds and that asschers are just never going to cut it for me, regardless how well cut they may be. Ive returned it. But here are some pics:

May we ask to where it went back? Interesting stone, doesn't look small - or very affordable.

Sorry it was not to your taste. It looks like it might have been quite lively.

I first found it here: https://www.brilliance.com/lab-grow...ake-vvs2-clarity-igi-certified-SKU-LG28755259 but then had it called in to a local jeweller (at a lower price). Its probably back with the original supplier by now.

For someone looking for an antique style asscher it could be a really good purchase. Its not quite as lively under the table as in the crown area but then then table is pretty small.

Ive ended up falling for a lab marquise instead and have decided that elongated shapes with more sparkle are hitting the sweet spot for me.

After revisiting this for a week, I decided last night to order it. I'm so curious how it will look in person!
It hasn't shipped yet, so I can cancel it if it looks like it will be a bad performer. What do y'all think? I don't like the crushed ice look and don't want a mushy stone, but this didn't fall into either category from my eyes.

It was leaky under the table :( Sending it back.

The colors are not to my taste but I’m looking forward to seeing more bicolor lab diamonds.

Green-yellow-brown?
Clean HPHT with PriceScope ideal proportions and looks to have nice cut precision - impressive!
Nice price point for what this is, in my opinion.

it looks somewhat bluish to me. DW, is post-growth treatment gone before cutting or after?

It has all sorts of colors in it - it's like that fancy color shifting paint!
I think PGT done before cutting so that it doesn't potentially compromise the work/labor of the cutter.

Can I get some insight please? I'm waffling between an "old mine" cushion from Ouros and an August Vintage rectangle cushion. I love the AV line, but (as of this post) it's over 4x the price. I'm making a dainty ring and a 1ct E/F VVS from Ouros is $352 ($440 less 20% off) and AV with the same specs is $1,450. All videos I've seen of the Ouros cushions look beautiful; am I missing something? Is it possible that DG hasn't adjusted their prices online to reflect the decline of the LGD industry pricing?

AV = patented, custom cut, human vetted to rather high QA, darn-near guaranteed extreme light return and optical performance.

Ouros = roll the dice, may (and probably will) have dark/dead center.

DG has lowered the prices of their LGD, just not as low as everyone else due to the patented cut. DG diamonds are gorgeous. I’m a huge DG fan. I have multiple August Vintage stones from them. Do you think you will eventually want a ring with a larger diamond? If that is the case, I would buy the 1 ct from Ouros and save up to buy the bigger diamond from DG in the future.

I like Ouros, too. I have two antique cushions from them and they are pretty, plus some other cuts. I have never been disappointed in their diamonds. You get what you pay for with the settings.

Thanks for your insight; you said all the things I had thought, and it was nice to get that reassurance.

Yes, I'm hoping for a ~2ct AVC down the road, but I want it in a champagne color and right now Jon isn't offering anything other than high white colors. I think that because the stone is on the smaller side I'm a bit less nervous sourcing it from Ouros; they're also going to cut a pair of 2mm French cuts for me, to be used as side stones. This isn't my end-all-be-all ring, but more of a demure option for when I don't want to wear my larger diamond. I've reached out to DK about making the setting, so depending on cost I'll hopefully have this project wrapped up by the end of the year.

I have not done well with Ouros, partially my fault I'm sure. Just make certain he echoes exactly what you want, and flatter him. Like Ankit, they need some handling. That said, you may very well get something superb. Keep us posted.

Thanks for the insight. I'll reach out to be sure they know I'll be watching for bold pastels and a lively center in the cushion cut. With the frenchies, I'm hoping for some lively fire; they're so small I'm not sure I can expect anything more.

Agree with @Ibrakeforpossums — Check videos and speak up if you need changes. Come back and post photos!

What causes this? Different doping at different times? Radiation missed a spot? Looking forward to the day when we can custom order parti colors!

Ok, after taking in your comments I sufficiently freaked myself out enough to realize I did not want to risk getting a bad stone (or hassle/bad juju) from Ouros since I'll be paying thousands for the setting, so yesterday I secured a stunning 1ct elongated OMC from Alex Park. I hadn't even thought to check with him first, so I am kicking myself for that. None were advertise at the time, but he happened to have a few in stock and I should have it in my hands shortly. DK and I are tweaking/finalizing the ring design, so it's coming together much faster than I'd anticipated. I'm very excited now!

I had planned to just hang onto the Ouros stone that is being cut and use it in a future project - since they have a no cancelation/refund policy - but, as luck would have it, apparently I transferred funds from the wrong bank account and got notice today it was rejected . So they keep the stone and I get to keep my money. Thanks universe!

I'm thinking you have this coming. You earned it somewhere.

It's here! I love it. It throws beautiful pastels. It's not an AV, but for 1/4 the price I'm definitely satisfied. I couldn't get sharp images though; I'll try to find my macro attachment and try again later.

I finalized my CAD with DK today and should have the wax model by Friday

Pixel cut so cool

This is the first time I’ve seen a LGD report actually grade a LGD as purple, as opposed to purple-pink. But we consumers don’t have access to everything.

I had 2 come back. The cushion picture placeholder is incorrect, you have to click through to see the diamond.

How do you find unusual cut stones in ritani?
How do you filter for rose cut diamonds in ritani?

Look for very shallow stones under 50. Thats how I found odd cuts. Look under advanced filters for a large culet. That may find some cool ones for you.

I forgot to update this post with the macro shots of my diamond - sorry! David said it's actually 1.1cts and E/VS1 quality. Here are a few photos and you can see a fireball-of-a-show video here.

I'm in the queue with DK now and, to pass the time of anxious waiting , had AI generate what I hope the final result will look like (approximately, as the rose gold will be brushed finish and the diamonds will have milgrain around them). I'm still not set though on what engraving I want on the shank; any suggestions? I thought I wanted antiqued/blackened scrollwork but now I'm second-guessing. Something more geometric, like herringbone? Leave it up to their engraver? Or just leave it plain? For reference, it is a 2.2mm band which then tapers up to where it meets the head.
