Hi, i've recently been looking for diamonds to purchase for my partner and have really started to like Whiteflash as a diamond provider based on their cut quality and customer service. I was quite keen to purchase the highest carat diamond I could within my price range (up to $12k). I came across the below diamond which is marked as "inquire" when it comes to its eye clean status.

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3905786.htm

I spoke to someone there who mentioned that there are some inclusions, lighter in colour which you could see on the table of this diamond with a naked eye. I'm conscious these people are trained to spot these sorts of things so I'm trying to work out whether this would be something I should be concerned with as well or whether it's worth taking the risk. Obviously this is hard to answer but I was just interested in whether anyone else has seen a Whiteflash diamond that's not marked as eye clean but whether to an untrained eye these inclusions have been apparent.

Unfortunately their alternative diamonds within my price range that are classified as eye clean quite are a bit smaller so i'm just trying to work out which might be the best one for me to purchase. I'm happy to purchase the smaller ones if necessary but just thought it was worth checking on here first in case others have had similar experiences.

Any thoughts/comments would be very much appreciated!

Thanks

Out of your selections I liked the 1.421 best by far. Should be eye clean, the images are lovely, and the angles all work exceptionally well. I know it faces up a little smaller than the 1.70, but I really didn’t care for that diamond; something about the image was just off to me (lots of dead space in the center), plus not being eye clean would be a deal breaker to me.

Thanks very much! To be honest I was wondering if it looked a bit too good to be true because it was also the cheapest 1.70ct diamond I found across any other websites (including James Allen and Blue Nile).

I was hopeful that it would be alright but I don't want anything with inclusions that are going to be too obvious when you look at it. Think it will be back to the drawing board for the time-being.

Did you look at the Brilliance video on the 1.7? I'm surprised that anyone can see that in real life All I see is brilliance (flashing when I look at my stone).

Anyway, did you ask about this one? It also says Inquire but wondering what the details are? Bigger than the 1.4*s.

Thanks very much. I did look at the brilliance video and it's really only the inclusion on the table of the diamond that I could see, although I really doubt I'd be able to see that without the magnification. I have to say i'm still inclined to take the risk and just go for it because I feel like it's the best price i'll be able to get for a 1.7ct diamond compared to what I can see else-ware.

I did also look at that 1.566ct diamondas well however was told that you'd see be able to see the inclusion with a naked eye, which somehwat surprised me considering where most of the inclusions seem to be located on the diamond (all around the facets rather than on top of the table.

What do you think about this one? Not WF but CBI diamonds are highly regarded. Says it’s eye clean too,

I've never come across HP Diamonds, thanks for the suggestion. That certainly also looks like a great price. I see it's an SI2 so I assume that's where the price discount comes from however if it's still basically eye-clean with a good cut I think that would be good enough!

I looked at that 1.7 a few months back and my WF rep did not speak favorably about it— it could have been just compared to the other stones I was looking at but she crossed it off the list right away. I believe it was a trade in. It still doesn’t hurt to order it and take a look. Wf has amazing customer service and return policy.

If you like super-ideal cut, you would also like HPD (High Performance Diamonds). What do you think of these? I like the first one and it will be eye clean.

Thanks very much for these suggestions. In general after looking through HP Diamonds i've noticed that on average they seem to be priced higher than equivalent Whiteflash diamonds in general. I was hoping to basically get the largest carat diamond I could but still with an ideal cut and with inclusions that preferably wouldn't be able to be seen. I'm still inclined to just take a risk on the 1.7ct from Whiteflash although I live in Australia so returning it could be a bit difficult if it didn't work out so it's definitely a risk!

From what I can tell though, it's definitely a lighter inclusion than some others i've seen so i'm hopeful that this might mask how obvious it is to some degree

Interesting, thanks for the comments. Were you comparing others of similar carat size to the 1.7 out of interest? If that's the case I guess I could see how this one might be compared less favorably. I might even ask them if they can confirm if it was a trade-in. Though reviewing their trade-in policy, they seem to have fairly strict standards when it comes to this so i'd be interested if this one would have made the cut if the inclusions were so obvious.

The 1.7 diamond is not part of their ACA line and is a 60/60 type of diamond. A different flavor of cut but with the larger table, you might see the inclusion more readily than you think. I would much prefer to have one of the ACA diamonds that you posted - even though they are smaller.

i also noticed this stone is not symmetric. i would go for the ACA line. even though they are "smaller" in carat weight, they might outperform the 1.7 in terms of light performance and brilliance.

I was looking at 1.7 all the way up to 2.4– so quite the range. But this was the highest color I was looking at. I don’t believe they disclosed it was a trade in. I think there was a previous post about this stone that I gathered that information from. Again, I think it’s a pretty stone— and worth a look if it fits your other criteria— but perhaps I’m not as strict in my wanted stats as other. I ended up selecting a 2.4 I ES fromWF
