No Heat Color Change Sapphire, Eye Clean, 5.27 cts. What should I ask for this sapphire? They are becoming more scarce these days.

Without addressing your particular stone, you need to look online at other vendors and see what's out there and the price, plus prior sales. It depends on quality and what people are willing to pay.

Can you duplicate the color change displayed on the report?

I cannot, it’s goes from blue to purple, that color doesn’t depict it properly on the paper on the report. I could probably show you the daylight vs. incandescent later when I have a moment.

The AIGS report makes it look more pink which isn’t representative of the true color change

Depends entirely on how pretty it is -- and I can not tell from any of those photos (sorry). That alone can have > 10X impact on value. The technical stuff -- perhaps apart from being unheated -- is all secondary.

Very Pretty and my personal preferred size! That AIGS report sure is misleading, though. Thanks for sharing so I can be aware of these reports. I personally would have described it as shifting, not a true color change. Color change in my mind is reserved for stones that actually change to the opposite side of the color wheel (ex: red to green) and shifting just slides up or down the wheel, like blue to violet.

I have a >5 CT color shifting sapphire that shifts from apple green to blue-gray to teal (my avatar pic). I bought it from a trusted jeweler as an estate sale well below what retail prices were at the time. Now I think they've skyrocketed, so I'm no help in giving you a price point.

Thank You! It is an absolutely gorgeous stone!

It’s currently listed on Etsy by a store located in Thailand for 12k usd.

Right, I would echo @Mrs_Strizzle and would characterize this as color shift, and not color change, if it simply shifts from blue to purple.

This is not me, I’m in Pa not Thailand.

Interesting. I will, thank you.

Blue to purple is a colour shifter not a colour changer. To be a colour changer the two colours have to be on opposite sides of the colour wheel rather than next to each other. I adore colour changers and colour shifters but for some reason they’re not hugely popular. The size of your stone and lack of treatments will make it appealing. As for price? Honestly I think you’ll have to search for similar stones online (not a gem website but more private people selling as that will give you a benchmark).

It is the same report number they have on their Etsy listing. I would report the fraud.

That's either suspicious AF or one hell of a coincidence

I own this stone. Not someone in Thailand. Why it’s on etsy is beyond me. Can you please tell me where to find it? Shop?

Thank you. My husband just messaged the shop to see if it’s still available, this should be interesting.

maybe these will help, no visible inclusions, tried to show color change in different lighting

I can't say much to those -- and most are in a plastic bag. The vendor shot looks gray-ish and not super-saturated. I can't tell if the video is low-fi or there is a cloud-like inclusion off to one side. I don't think anyone here can give you much of an opinion without excellent color-matched photos. Even then, it's a challenge. Without that, it's futile. Your (or my) description that something is gorgeous (or delicious) is not helpful.

, look, I’m new here, no need to be snarky.

At the end of the day it’s all about colour. I don’t think colour shift necessarily adds extra value. There are a bazillion blue sapphires on IG. Seems to be a prolific colour.

Based on what I’m seeing in terms of colour and cut, I’m thinking about $2000-$3000, if the buyer likes the colour.

Was that for me? I'm not being snarky. It's not like a Camry where even in a half-lit terrible photo, you can tell it is the commoditized good it is described as and it has not been wrecked. Think of it like asking "How much is this oil painting worth?" The dimensions and the colors will not get you very far. I tried but I have not been successful conveying the subtleties of assigning value to colored gems. Sorry to disappoint and best of luck!

The etsy link is no longer valid - what's the story there, OP?

My husband asked if it was still available, my guess is they deleted it.
