I have a good bit of jewelry, but it was all bought as gifts and I love every bit of it.
We became engaged 4 years ago and my fiance gave me his grandmother's engagement ring from 1910, which is amazing. People actually stop me in the stores and at work to talk about it. Lovely art deco and filigree that is...it makes my heart happy. The center stone is rated an E for color and the clarity is IF. The appraisal also called it a round (which it is) Old European cut. The stone is .75 carats. The diamonds around it are of similar color/clarity but different cuts (marquise and smaller rounds). White gold 18K
We recently went out to try to find a matching diamond band to go with it. I did not want something too big or something that would overtake the original ring as I love it for all the beautiful sentimental reason you all probably can imagine.
We found and bought the following, which looks great, but I just got the appraisal and am now curious as the stone quality is a bit different.
We paid $1380 (including tax) for an 18K white gold band (3.6 grams), with 5 round diamonds, prong set, weighing 1.25 ctw. Clarity - S1, Color F.
Was that a fairly good price for such a thing? It looks fabulous with the ring.
Just curious and I thought, 'why not ask?'
