Hi everyone, I got engaged a few weeks ago... I picked out my own stone. It's a 2.5 carat EGL USA certified stone set in platinum... color I, SI1. I wear a ring size 4. :-)

Thanks to everyone for their patient advice and knowledge... I can't tell you how greatly I benefited.

Sorry for my ugly hands! I'm a chronic nailbiter, but I'm hoping my nice new ring will deter me.

By the way, do you think my diamond is set too high?

Without flash here... and more pics coming!

Gorgeous - a nice size for your hand!

Hmm, I don''t think it''s too high . . . what are you thinking for your wedding band?

I love it,it looks great.I don''t think it''s to high, but if you feel uncomfortable with it on maybe you should get it lowered.

Beautiful ring! Congrats!!!

Oh my goodness - that is gorgeous! it looks great on your itty bitty fingers too, which by the way are soooooo not ugly!

Enormous and gorgeous--that about sums it up!!

fire_works, it does sparkle although I'm not able to capture it!

I took the above photos today, on a super overcast day... yuck! I took this photo in my bathroom, where my ring is the most sparkley. Unfortunately, even after reading the "How to Take Good Photos of Your Diamond" thread, I still can't capture the multi-colored sparks on my digital camera! It always come out looking a little dull? Oh well. Between my terrible photography and my cheap digital camera there's no hope!

Excuse the fingers again... should probably buy myself a manicure!

What a gorgeous diamond! It''s huge! Congrats!

Yes, it does look a little too high in my opinion.

Beautiful ring!

I agree that it is a little high. Generally, the Tiffany style setting usually has the diamond set lower (if you go by the real thing, that is!).

Hi fierypyropixy, I want to get an eternity band or semi-eternity band... not sure what total carat weight yet, but nothing too huge! Maybe it''s better to keep a higher setting so the eternity band can sit flush?

I think it''s the prongs--they are very tall.

Wowee, that is a gorgeous stone! Congrats and great job. I have to agree with Laila619 that the stone is set a little too high for my taste. Can they shorten the prongs a bit? Either way, it is fabulous!

It is lovely, it is enormous but i think it is set too high..

Gleam, congratulations on your new ring, it is lovely. I thought your nails look lovely as well!

I think the ring is a beauty and your hands look great but that setting would be way to high for me...

Gleam--you captured a pretty decent close-up profile shot...

...as for fire shots, I got mine in direct sunlight, through a window with curtains pulled back---on macro (close zoom) setting. I tried to lean my arm against the wall or window pane to cut the blurr factor....

...AND--I must have taken 20 pics to get 1 good one!! It was a long, experimental process...but so worth getting a few killer sparkle shots---my camera is pretty dinky also...at least 5 years old (digital)...hope this helps?

...now, waiting sunny days--not so great this time of year!

It''s a beautiful ring, Gleam! Such a wonderful size! If you feel it sits too high, it''s usually an easy fix. Congratulations!
