Hi All,

After lurking on these forums and seeing everyone's amazing diamonds I have decided to join up.

My boyfriend and I are looking at purchasing an AVC as I fell in love with all the beautiful pictures posted on here

My question is will a H AVC still look white in a halo setting? I have read that fancy cuts tend to show more colour and I'm not a huge fan of too much warmth. I have watched one of Jonathan's videos whereby he compared a H AVC set in a halo to a K AVC also set in a halo but the H looked slightly creamy to me. It could very well have been the camera.

All the AVCs I have seen on pricescope look white face up regardless of their colour. I just love their chunky facets!!

Could also be your computer display.

On its own, maybe you will not notice the color, depending on your color sensitivity.

I think the stone on its own will look lovely but im just wondering how well the h will hold up with a halo around it

You could request the halo stones to be of lower color too.

Vintage style cuts like an AVC show more warmth than modern brilliant cuts.
They can appear to be more warm from faceup than other stones graded the same body color.
Yes the melee will contrast with the centre even if the same color, but that video made both AVCs look so tinted due to lighting which
is not the way the centre will look in most lighting.
If you are looking for icy white H is too low a color and in some lighting the warmth will be more noticeable, if you are color sensitive than you may consider a higher color.

I have a 1.54 H AVC, and it looks very white to me. Of course that's my eyes and my own personal impression--and the stone is not in a halo. But I thought it might be helpful nonetheless. :)) I think a halo for an H would be lovely.

Can't wait to see what you decide to do! :))

Best of luck,

I can decide between an E SI1, GSI1 or HVS2. I have been liaising with Sarah who is just lovely. She did say that she could see small inclusions on the E and G (tiny specs). Would this be considered clean eye or maybe it is because she is so used to seeing inclusions in diamonds? She also said the H showed the inclusion more so than the E and G. Sooooo much to think about. GOG isn't getting anymore AVC until next year. Should I ask to be put on a wait list or just bite the bullet and go with the E. The only issue being I definately want an eye clean SI1. Nonetheless the stones she emailed me pictures of sparkled like crazy!! :appl:

Depends on you and your bf. Do you guys have a timeline for the proposal or how you/him feels about upgrading the stone down the road?

If there is a timeline but ok with upgrading, I would go with what GOG has now then when something new comes in, do an upgrade?

We probably won't upgrade for quite a few years down the road. The E sounds fantastic but I can't help but wonder if next year when more are cut, they can source one with my exact specs.

I'm just wondering if there is anyone on here with an AVC SI1 that can see the inclusions as tiny specs????

I mean just upgrade to the specs you want. GOG's upgrade policy is just as long as it is an equal or greater value than the current purchase.

I think G would be fine in a halo. Ask about whether the stones are eye clean... how closely does she have to look to see the "specs"?

My AVC is an L/VS2 and I can see the inclusion if it is sitting about 3 inches from my eye, in good light. It is soooooo teeny tiny no one else can see it, even at close range. In fact when I have tried to show it to a family member they couldn't spot it without the loupe.

It looks like a microscopic piece of dust. Doesn't look bad at all and I am much more clarity sensitive than I am colour sensitive. So if it was easily noticeable it would drive me nutso!!!!

It was Sarah who helped me with my purchase and she was simply fabulous. I would happily say to you that she represented my stone, verbally to me, exactly how I see it with my own eye.

Good luck with whatever you choose. You are in good hands! :wavey:

Newby here - Question about H coloured AVC - Opinions on ASE

Hi All,

I have links to the ASET pics of the AVC's boyfriend and I are looking at purchasing. I would really appreciate some feedback as to which will give the best light return. I have tried reading up on ASET scans but it has really gone over my head.

Ok first up is the 1.05, E, SI1
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6037/

Followed by the 1.04, G, SI1
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6463/

Lastly, new contender, 1.14, F, VS2
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/7312/

I decided to drop the H from the pack as I think the colour would be too warm for my eyes (still a beautiful stone nonetheless!).

Thank goodness for the wonderful people on pricescope otherwise we would be 'without a paddle'!!

I prefer the G SI1 but it is also the most squarish. Not sure if you prefer that proportion or not.

You could ask GOG to make a video of all 3 stones together.
