Hi there! I learned a couple of days ago that my great aunt who recently died left me her wedding ring. I don't have any specifics on what the ratings on the diamond are but that it is a 1.10 carat round diamond in a simple setting and in 2002 was appraised at $9600. I defineltly want to reset the diamond for either a right hand ring or a pendant. Any advice where to start. I recently had my wedding diamond reset and don't want to upstage it and was thinking if I did have a ring made I want something simple that doesn't look like I was once engaged and it didn't work out. I would appreciate all input. Thanks!
P.S. I've really gotten a kick out of looking at all the bauble pics everyone has posted.

do you like white gold or yellow gold?

Well... look at the ADMIT IT thread on Diamond Hangout for some amazing round setting ideas (among other ideas)... as for pendants... If the diamond has a color higher than H I don''t know if I would make it a pendant... white diamonds like that look amazing as rings... but if it''s a lower color I''d go for it. That''s a personal thing though.

I eventually will get a nice 1 ct. diamond from my mother, and my plan is to set it in a three-stone setting with some beautiful sapphires on each side.

My brother called and said the paperwork reads: I-J with VS1 -VS2. I prefer white gold . That is why I had my wedding ring reset. Does the appraisal seem too high for these specifics?

a halo pendant?
a white gold solitaire bangle?
a plain pendant?

do you want something you can wear every day or for special?

I want something that I can wear all the time. Classy yet simple. I''ll post pics of my ring and watch I wear everyday so you cna get my sense of style. Paige

In my experience apprasial value is way higher (like 40%) than what was paid. Maybe they are just trying to make people feel like they got a good deal or something.

However, I think there''s a very good chance that the stone will be lovely and look beautiful in a new piece of jewelry.
You could do a halo and wear it as a pendant, or a halo RHR (nice to be able to look at it!)
How about using another gemstone (sapphires!) in the halo?

RHR? I''m blonde! Please tell what it stands for.

Ladykemma,
My wedding ring solitaire is a pear. My husband gave it to me 8 years ago and it''s good to see another pear since I see very few on pthers. My husband picked out the shape because he thought it would look good on my long fingers. In fact, my ring looks like a teenage version of yours. Toodles, Paige

RHR= Right hand ring

look at the pears on this page! drool worthy.
