Hi all,
I'm a newbie here and stumbled upon this forum as my sweetie and I have been searching for an engagement ring in the last couple of weeks but are now finding it had to decide on which style!
We love the shape of the oval on my finger but the sparkle of the round seems unmatched!
The oval looks larger and more elegant but it's difficult to guage diamond performance as opposed to a round.
With the round it's easier to check it's performance and find a sparkly one but the shape doesn't excite me; thankfully I do like it in a tight cushion halo.
I'm yet to find an oval halo that'll fit a round stone, well except one at Hatton Garden but the seller's diamonds are over priced and she wouldn't sell the mount separately.
In summary it appears that until there is an oval that dances like the round I might have to go with a round in a cushion halo or Harry Winston style The One.
I would be grateful to hear your thoughts.
Secondly; we happen to be going to Dubai at the weekend and I will appreciate advise regarding checking the diamonds there. I've read on here National Jewelry have an IdealScope but I dont know whether any others do. Is it possible to buy one in the UK perhaps?
I plan to take the details and punch it into the HCA tool and select a diamond between 1 and 2.5 before buying.
This is another reason why I feel more comfortable buying the round.
Thank you already!
