I''m shopping for a 5 stone ring for my wife, with about .20-.30 on the sides, and about .69-.75 center, in a square cut. My wife is in love with the Hearts on Fire Dream Diamond rings she saw, and the jewler has a couple of settings for her to come look at. As I wright this, Marie at GOG is combing through this morning''s shipment of 100 new Jubilee diamonds to see what they can come up with. (My wife is not enjoying this shopping process. When she sees what she likes, that''s it. But she''s leaving it up to me - even though this study and shopping is "loosing the charm and romance."

My question is this. If I decide to go with GOG, or the local jewler''s HOF, should I have the center stone appraised by a third party? Any other advice? I''ve spent most of a day reading as much about diamonds as I can

Thank you for this website, and the great info at Nice Ice and GoodOldGold.

what a lucky gal your wife is! you can always have you ring or stone appraised by a third party...and its always a good idea. there are quite a few reputable ones listed above on PS..so check those out.
if your wife is set on the HOF dream, then that maybe what you should be looking at. but, as most will tell you here, there is quite a markup for the name, and you can fine a modified round, ie..square round, for less and better performanc. it seems you already have with the Jubilee..which would be my first choice! they are awsome..i have seen one and they perform quite well. so, if youre looking for the fire and jass from a round, but would like a slightly different shape..i think Jubilee is the way to go. im sure of the "100"!!!! new stones that GOG received..you should find something! good luck!
