i have searched this board and cannot find any concrete information. Im looking for a diamond that will look beautiful to the eyes. Also hold its value.

What should I look for in a princess diamond?

Is there a platinum ring that would protect the edges of the diamond?

If possible a link to one on bluenile or any other source would be great.

Went to one jeweler and they were saying to make sure it perfectly square ( showed me one that had the characteristics of 5.44 x 5.43 ).

Thanks

You might like to select some stones and get the ball rolling?

This board will not work otherwise because people do not want to shhow favoritism to any individual vendors

My first diamond was a 1.0 princess cut and I just purchased a 1.5o f.vs2 platinum band. It is also a GIA certified.

I don't know a THANG

about what #s to look for in a princess... but I do know that if I were in the market for one, I would definitely take a look at an AGS-0 graded one. I think they look AWESOME!

ETA: Don't worry tooooo much about buying a diamond that will "hold its value"... because diamonds in general are a lousy "investment"! Buy one because you love it, but don't expect it to make you any money!

Some strategies noted here may help....

why would you want to get a gia report on it? it seems like it already has an ags grading report.

is AGS just as good as GIA. GIA is the one I more commonly hear. just like AKC is the one for dogs and then there are offshots who arent as stringent.

Do you want a square princess cut or a rectangular one? The one you posted is more rectangular...
AGS and GIA are two of the better known/respected labs.
The only setting I think will protect the corners is the V-prong tip.
Whatever you spend on your diamond you will never be able to recoup if you ever decide to sell it.
I used Dave Atlas''s chart for fancies to choose my princess cut.- gemappraisers.com. You can also look at an AGS0 princess cut or a Whiteflash ACA princess cut.
You have to decide your budget, what colour and clarity you''d be happy with, and then start looking at what''s out there.
Good luck!

im looking for a more square princess. I believe a square one looks 100x better than rectangular.

where is the chart on gemappraisers? I couldnt find it.

I really want something that is just going to look pretty to the eyes. No one is ever going to look at it with a magnifing glass. Also as you stated it appears the value of these is only emotional.

The link didn't work for me. Fixed Link
I oh so cannot link. Click on Diamond education. Then click on Old AGA cut class system . Then you can click on the old chart for princess cuts or if you have all the pertinent info use the DIY cut grading. Now all this is not The Bible it just gives you the benefit of all his experience.
