Hello. Hope everyone is doing great. Been lurking and this is my first post. I'm looking for opinions on a stone. If I could get some help it would be greatly appreciated. I'm currently deployed to the Middle East for the next year and want to suprise my wife with an upgrade. What do you think of this stone in a 6 prong knife edge Tiffany style? Thank you very very much for any help.

I hear a bloke in Dubai going by the name AussieMike is worth paying a visit. :read: One of my close girlfriends received a suprise engagement when partner returned from delpoyment and I've seen the ring - top notch and I know what he paid for it too - pretty reasonable. I'd ask around the base and see what the fellas say. Here is the link: http://aussiemikes.org/

Excellent!
But I'd choose something in the VS2/SI1 range (totally eye clean!) instead of VVS and get a one carat diamond.
I'm sure our diamond experts will help to get a fabulous stone.

Welcome to Pricescope, It is a beautiful diamond you have chosen. However, you may be able to buy a larger diamond if you would drop the clarity and/or color down a bit. I think a person notices the relative size of a diamond first, how much it sparkes, a guess on color and clarity unless it has large black inclusions. I would go down to a G color, VS-1 or SI-1. You can request 3 idealscope images and have a gemmologist appraise your selected diamonds. Do you have a budget? Thank you for your service!!

This was just a quick search, but here are a few more option for you. You could ask JA to evaluate and give you an opinion of the stone you chose and the two posted. I agree with the others that I would drop the color and clarity slightly to get in over the 1ct mark. The stone will still appear icy white and flawless to the naked eye. It doesn't make sense to me to pay for something that you can't visually appreciate. Most people can't tell color differences in set diamonds until they drop below an H, and VS1-2 should appear eye clean, meaning without a loupe your naked eye will never be able to locate the inclusions. With VS2's though you want to confirm this with JA's gemologist, there is the odd stone that may have a visual inclusion, often through the pavilion angle as opposed to face up, but it's always best to get an opinion.

I would advise against buying a diamond from a local vendor outside of the country you reside in. Not all vendors are honest, unfortunately, and of course I don't know this particular vendor and he may be wonderful, but should there be a problem with your stone once you return to the states it will be extremely difficult to resolve it from halfway across the world. You'd be doing yourself a favor by sticking with reputable online vendors with a great return policy. JA has an incredible 60 day return, and I think that this could work very well in your situation. Also, regardless of where you decide to purchase, be sure that you are only purchasing GIA or AGS graded stones. And be sure that they come with a lab report from either GIA or AGS not a in house grading done by a GIA grad gemologist....there is a huge difference. And be sure to get a return policy stated IN WRITING!

Will you be having the ring shipped to you overseas or will you have it shipped to an address in the US?
