Hello all,

I have been a lurker on this board for several months now. I plan to propose to my GF in April. Now comes the fun part - actually putting my thoughts on a ring into a final decision! I (we) really like cushions, more specifically, cushion halos. My budget is $4000-$4500. I actually prefer the clean look of a plain-shank with a halo. I have just started emailing WF and ERD to get the process started and see what I can do with my budget. My main question is, does a halo make sense with a budget like this, or am I better off getting a larger center stone and a less-expensive (non-halo) setting? She is a size 7 finger, so I would like something that looks substantial on her finger. I know halo''s can make a big difference, I guess I am just thinking out loud right now! Can anyone give me any insight into experience with this kind of budget/cushion/halos/etc?

I think it is a matter of preference, either of the vendors could give you an idea of pricing for each, if your GF likes the cushion halo best then that is the way to go.

If she wants a halo, then go for it. Even if you went a tad smaller than you like on the center stone, the halo will add some substance and make it look a little bigger anyways. Good luck, can''t wait to see what you come up with!
