newbie diamond question, De Beers Promise Solitaire

Hi all,

I've read through some articles in the forum and picked a few diamonds based on my budget. I'm looking for a 0.75 to 0.9 eye clean (SI1) round H&A diamond around the $3000 to $5500 range. I'm in Los Angeles and I'm looking for a jewelry master that can make the De Beers Promise Solitaire setting for me:



I'm also comparing the following diamonds from whiteflash and was wondering if you guys can guide me in the right direction:

Would it be worth the premium to go with the A CUT ABOVE line compared to the expert line? Thanks so much!

I think all of the diamonds you posted would make good choices but it might help to narrow down color/clarity preferences

If you aren't particuliarly color sensitive and assuming that the stone is eye clean then I would go for the largest stone .84. All of them look as though they will perform nicely though, and you probably won't go wrong with any of them. But if you don't have a color or clarity preference I would go with largest eye clean stone that I could.

That setting is beautiul and BGD is fantastic! Congrats!

I would also get a quote from WF on the setting they do excellent work. The one from BGD does look just like it to.

All the diamonds you picked for comparison would be great performing diamonds. Have you compared color and clarity at a local store to see what you prefer in both? The ring is lovely too. Have fun. I can't wait to see what you get.

Thanks for the input guys! I called Brian's place and I can have a stone shipped to them so they can set it for me but it's going to set me back $100. So I was looking through his diamonds and came across this one:

What do you guys think about this diamond? Is there any reason why it's under $3000? Thanks!

That is a beautiful stone...the K color and si1 clarity are what makes the price lower.

Here is a video on color so you can have a feel for a K colored stone. Generally "G" color is consider standard. Some
people drop down to I/J range to gain some size. Not too many people go to the K range unless they are looking
at antique stones. *I* think you should stay higher unless your GF said she is ok with a lower colored stone.

You should talk to WF and get a quote for making that setting. Would be a good thing to know.

Edit - here is an I colored stone...a little smaller than you wanted but it is an AGS0 stone and leaves plenty of
money to have it sent to BGD and have mounted.

I turned to Mark Turnowski and he picked a Hearts and Arrows E SI1 .87 for me. Plus he's going to make the settings i want. I hope I'm in good hands and I will give an update when the CAD design is ready. Thanks guys!

Just out of curiosity, do you guys think it's worth it to pay extra for a BGD setting? They look amazing but I'm just sure if they're worth the premium since I haven't seen it in person. Thanks!
