Do you bother with setting yourself some NY resolutions, for them to be broken within days into the near year?

My first and foremost is to manage my finances and live within my means, now that I have come out of a long dark tunnel that lasted over 4 years and learnt a very valuable lesson late in life, and shall not have another credit card unless it is a pre-paid one.  :))

Next is to get out of the rut and find my intrinsic motivation again, in the form of a new job and work environment. Hopefully, I shall have the opportunities to travel and expand my knowledge and experience doing what I enjoy, and be able to help improve standards and compliance along the way. Plus the opportunities to wear my smarter work wardrobe and jewellery that has stayed in the dark in the past few years.

I shall make the most of my gym membership, as going to the gym worked for me in the past, in helping me to reduce stress as well as to strengthen my body. It also allows me to eat what I enjoy without having to worry about weight gain too much.

I shall be celebrating my 50th birthday in 2015, and shall do so with fun, joy and optimism, with a few presents to myself, including some blings.

Happy New Year in advance to everyone on PS!

DK

No resolutions for me - I never make them.
I go to the gym year-round and those of us who do, joke about how packed the gym gets for a couple of months (in Jan. & Feb.) before it settles back into the regulars.

Hi dk, you and I are around the same age! Yanno 50 is the new 30 but with all the hard earned knowledge that 30 year olds don't usually have. :cheeky:
I am looking forward to seeing your new bling.

Like momhappy I never make New Year's resolutions but instead try to eat well, exercise and be kind to others all year long.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2015. :wavey:

missy,

Don't know about you, however, I really enjoyed my 40s, and am looking forward to my next decade.

I too shall look forward to your new blings too. ;))

DK :))

I have a few resolutions for the new year. I go to the gym year round, but I want to make sure I go at least 4x per week instead of just the 2-3 it has been lately. I, too, would like to manage my money a bit better (shop less, save more). And I want my life to just be ORGANIZED, both at work and at home.

DK, I'm with you. For the most part I enjoyed my forties though 2014 has proven challenging. I look forward to getting older and hopefully wiser too. Getting older is a blessing and anyway the alternative isn't good. ::)

My resolution, get my living room and den painted. It may not seem like a real resolution but it will be a MASSIVE undertaking, and if we can get it done I will be most pleased! Also to start renovations on adding an additional bathroom upstairs!

Go back on my low carb diet and back to the gym. I have been a slug since my October vacation.

I don't remember ever actually making a list of NY resolutions! Plans, yes. Goals, yes. Resolving to do something better or something I haven't done before? Nah. I like reading others' resolutions or promises, though. It's interesting to see things I have in common with people regarding what they'd like to change.

Dk168, you've mentioned your financial issues here a few times and I can empathize. I made some bad decisions back in the 2000's and it was a tough lesson to learn. I just wanted to say that I appreciate you sharing a bit here. I highly doubt you and I are the only ones on PS who have suffered financial losses and then bounced back. It's sort of a taboo subject here but I think it's helpful to discuss it.

One commitment I've made already is to be a bit more selfish with my time. Sounds awful, but it means not allowing myself to be taken advantage of. I know even that sounds cryptic, but I'm sure those of you with families, jobs, and all kinds of talents know exactly what I mean.

Wishing everyone a very happy and prosperous 2015! :wavey:
