New to site need advice on diamond

So say I like this diamond, then do I buy it from the website? Or does someone get it in for me?

You buy it.. and let's say you like David Klass, have WF ship the stone to him directly.

Definitely (I at least got that covered haha)
To add a bit to whitewave's comment.. and please don't take this the wrong way - are you sure that she will like the design you have come up with? Is it classy, delicate or is there a lot going on? Any drawings to share? I just remember seeing a couple of weeks ago a guy on PS explaining that his now fiancé hated the ring the he designed for her for so long, we just don't want to see you in the same situation..

How much have you budgeted for the setting? Caysie van Bebber inspired design is in California also. (Norcal closer to tahoe)

Any places you recommend in the NJ/Philly area?

ID Jewelers in NYC comes to mind.

Yekutiel at ID Jewelers is a master at finding good deals and can get the setting made also. Tell him you want PS quality stones.

Steven Kirsch is in NY, but he is much more expensive. I, however, don't see a problem about working with a vendor out of state. Just reach out to David, he is very responsive and within your budget. Caysie's work is beautiful, but she is also more expensive.

I second IDJ, although I have not really seen vintage-inspired designs by them.

So I don't an exact picture at the moment, but it does look kinda like this (except round halo)

8 prong (4 double prongs), detailed edges for vintage look. Also the diamond is flush with the halo. I did go with her mom and sister so I do feel comfortable she will like it.

I'll reach out, best to reach out via phone or email?

Yekutiel can source you the stone and make the ring. I have not worked with him (I'm sending a stone to Caysie soon... she is working on my CAD) but I read that he has a great bench that does solid pave work.

You have to be careful with pave. It could be prong city or crooked, etc. Halos, as mentioned, really need to be custom or they look poorly fitting.

IDK could handle it all. I guess you can take the train into the city?

what have you guys done to me, starting off from scratch i guess lol

We want to make sure no one will lead you to a poor 6.2 HCA stone again!

You've received great advice OP. Yekutiel can source yoru stone or WF can. I prefer precision cuts myself but IDJ will find you a beautiful stone. Good luck!!

Of course I am never going to argue against precision cuts or whiteflash.

Good old Gold is in Long Island, I believe. So Jonathan may be a good choice as well.

We are DONE with your sales guy. Lol. He marketed a terrible stone to you... like a used car salesman. It makes us mad. Your GF deserves better for the same amount of money.

I'm sure that Jonathan at GOG (Rhino on this forum) would easily be able to help you source a beautiful stone within your budget and have a setting done as well. The GOG Ascendancy H&A or the GOG Platinum Select Rounds are beautiful stones with AGS 000 Light Performance (irrespective whether the stones have been graded by GIA or AGS).

New jeweler, new stone!

I took all you advice and decided to shop around. Went to a place I saw highly review on here and he gives me this stone guys....1.4. HCA.

Can all you friendly/helpful folks take a look at this stone

Can we get a picture or ASET?

I'm not liking the amount of inclusions and the surface graining given it is an SI1

I'll get a picture on Tuesday when I see it. Are your concerns is going to be visible to the eye?

I'm looking to see if the stone is cloudy, so get a bunch of pics by a window...

Ask the jeweler if he can get an Aset

Will do, any recommendations on how to take the pictures? What sort of angles/where do I put the diamond etc. how zoomed in should I be?

Picture would be good to see. Like whitewavehas mentioned, I'd be wanting to see a picture so that we can have an idea if the graining has affected transparency.

Any tips on how I should take the picture ?

Well, if you can get a 20x macro lens for your iPhone, that would be great. You need light and the ability to Take close shots. Taking pics of diamonds is really hard. (Another benefit of buying online: ASET and good photos and videos)

Take picture inside or outside?

Inside by the window. There is a post on "show me the bling" that gives some tips on how to take photos of diamonds.

OP
Many on this site have worked with VC, SK and BE for halo work. Check out posts.
They can also source the center stone for you.
Good luck.
