That setting is a stocl piece from Unique Settings of New York :)) I know because I used to own the same mount but in white gold. It is *very* nice for the price point. IDJ can order you the exact same mount from Unique.

Oooohh, great information! Thanks

Sorry, to clarify, I owned the mount with no pave. Another posted has that setting of their mom's K color stone, Brown Eyed Girl, if you do a search (maybe her user name and Mom upgrade).

Note, many of us who own or have owned J color diamonds think that pairing such a stone with pave makes the body color of the diamond a little more apparent. The contrast effect. Something to think about. You probably won't notice unless you are very well versed/familiar with diamonds or have pre-conceived notions about body color in diamomnds.

Very Nice.. both the settting and the stone. I like that WF lists the "eye-clean" stat as well. Thanks for the reference.

yes, that is very helpful- just need to make sure your definition of eyeclean is the same as their's...

Great Advice Dreamer.. Thanks. Btw, I've enjoyed reading about your journey to the 1.66CT upgrade!

also, here's the link to the brown eyed girl thread you referenced for anyone else interested;

I have a J colored diamond and I often wear it with a bgd eternity. When I ordered the band I asked for lower colored melee. I believe that my melee is h/i color. Given, my melee are smaller than the stones in that setting but I just thought I'd suggest among about it.

I apologize if I have already suggested this combo, but I just took a look at BGDs inventory (didn't really look hard there before because I wasn't sure there was a setting you'd go for. Since you're showing interest in something they can get for you, how about this stone? Would need an eye clean check, but it might work out.

1.03 J SI1 $4960

Table 56
Depth 61.9
Crown 34.5
Pav 41

Though now that I see what BGD wants for the setting, it is a little over budget.

What's been interesting is that I've seen a lot of stones around a carat, a lot around 0.9 and then very little in between within the specs I've been searching for you.

Just an update, I've ordered my diamond and setting from IDJ, expect it to arrive Fed-Ex in the next few days. The setting is something that IDJ had in-house and seems perfect. I'll be sure to update pics once It arrives. Thanks again to everyone.

Can't wait for more pics!!!

looks great. What are the stats on the stone, and do you have an idealscope & aset picture for us to admire?

I'm sure you'll love it!

This is the stone from page 1 of the thread .. a 0.91CT J VS2 Table 57, Depth 60.7, 34/41 HCA 1.3 EX/EX/VG/VG. Yekutiel has been very helpful and I`ve come to trust his recommendations.

My big decision now is whether to propose next week or wait til our vacation in Ireland the following week.. stay tuned

Do it in Ireland if she's semi expecting it even a little. If this is a suprize I'd suggest doing it before you go. Ireland could make for an extremely noteworthy proposal, Its just hauling that ring around with you, trying to go thru security, etc. Metal detectors, It might all give it away. I wouldnt put it in luggage! :nono:

It is a surprise I hope. I'm concerned about airport security, plus I want to be sure it fits her finger well as I had to measure ring size from another ring. But we are staying at a Castle hotel, look up Adare Manor, its Really nice with beautiful grounds. Ladies, please post your thoughts?

I'd think if you kept the ring in the box in your carry on it should be fine going through security...

I recently proposed on a trip oversees. Airport security did not go as planed. I had the ring in my pocket, and it rang going through secruity and I had to take it out and put it threw the conveyer belt all by itself. It was a little nerve wracking.

It all wound up working out in the end. I google imaged Adare Manor. I think you have to do it there. That place looks magical.

Package arrived at Fed-Ex already, will be picking up this afternoon.

We actually went to Ireland last year and stayed at the Manor, we loved it so much that we booked it again this year. I agree as long as I keep the ring in my carry-on things should go smoothly, I don't recall customs being an Issue on the Ireland side last year.exterior-8.jpg

I have a friend who wanted to propose on his beach vacation with his girlfriend. His mother actually sewed a little pocket into his underwear band and the ring stayed in there. Didn't set off the security alarms. I do think that you'll be find with it stuffed into your carry-on luggage.

Have fun with the proposal and I can't wait to hear what you think about the ring after you pick it up today! Your vacation spot looks MAGICAL!

that was sweet of his mom.

I think it is ok in your carry on though :)

Again. I went through security with the ring in my pocket and had the alarm go off. My recommendation would be put it in your carry on through security, than keep it in your pocket otherwise.

I was just recounting an anecdote that I thought was funny. In case you missed it, I did say that I thought it would be fine in his luggage, just like you did.

My mistake. Sometimes the english language and my brain don't connect.

I vote for doing it in Ireland at the start of your trip. I'd put the ring in your carry on, not on your person, and just keep your carry on with you at all times!

I'm convinced, I'll propose in Ireland. The ring is in, here's a quick pic from my camera phone.idj.jpg

it's gorgeous! I'm sure she will love it!! Congrats!

That's a pretty ring, and the location looks perfect for a proposal!

I've had my rings set of the scanners at the airport. I'd advise you to put it in your carry-on and hope they don't do a hand search (and spoil the surprise). If it does come down to a hand search for any reason, don't show alarm when they try to open whatever you have the ring in -- it will scare the security and could cause a problem.

I'm off this Sunday night, wish me luck! Hopefully will have some ring finger pictures to post soon. 8)

Woo HOO! What a grat ring and a romantic an memorable proposal idea!

My one tip: Propose the first day of the trip, first thing in the morning! That way, she can enjoy the glow of engagement as long as possible while you are away together!
