Hello everyone,

I'm currently exploring a few diamonds and considering a custom setting.

I have a good grasp of how the HCA, ASET, and diamond proportions factor into my decision-making process. Unfortunately, my webpage froze earlier, causing me to inadvertently use up my three free HCA readings on a single diamond.

I had initially narrowed my selection down to three diamonds. One of them, which I believe met all the criteria in terms of HCA score (1.4), the 4Cs, and had the correct proportions, was sold before I could view it. Here are the details on the remaining two

Option 1:
1.3 Ct
6.98x7.01x4.33mm
F, VS1
Cut/Symmetry/Polish - Excellent
Fluorescence - Faint

Table - 57%
Crown Angle - 35
Pavilion - 41.2
Depth 61.9%
Lower Girdle 75%
Thickness: Med-slightly thick

Option 2:
1.4 Ct
7.11x7.15x4.45mm
F, VS1
Cut/Symmetry/Polish - Excellent
Fluorescence - Faint

Table - 58%
Crown Angle - 35.5
Pavilion - 41.2
Depth 62.4%
Lower Girdle 70%
Thickness: Med-slightly thick

The price gap between the two is approximately $300 USD.

I'm aiming for a diamond size between 1.25 and 1.4 carats, which looks great on her finger.

What are your thoughts on the two options? Could someone assist in obtaining the HCA score for both? Additionally, if anyone can provide the ASET images as the vendor does not have this information, please let me know!

Do you have pictures or videos? These aren't proportions I'd choose because of the steep combo of crown and pav angles

Here are the HCA results. The proportions are not complementary and not ones we usually recommend.

If you share your budget, we can help you search for an alternative.

Not good...

The pavilion range we try to stay in is 40.6-41degrees
The crown range is 34-35 degrees

35 crown pairs with 40.6 pavilion
34.5 pairs with 40.8 (usually the sweet spot)
34 pairs with 41 pavilion

The pavilion is the more critical number. small changes (outside of range) in the pavilion angle will cause the stone to have issues.

Both your stones are high crowns (35ish) with a way to high pavilion (41.2). Bad combo that will show leakage.

I just got notice that the one that was sold is back on market!! Here are the details:

1.2Ct
6.75x6.80x4.20
E, VS1
Excellent Cut, Symmetry, and Polish
Fluorescence - Faint

Table - 57%
Crown Angle - 34
Pavilion - 41
Depth - 62%
Lower Girdle - 75%
Thickness: slightly thick

This was the one I was gunning for and it seems like this will have low light leakage and has the pairing with the crown and pavilion

Still need images. 41 pav can be risky depending.

When you refer to images, youre referring to ASET/IS; correct? I dont think the vendor has these.. how would I get them?

No, I mean just normal pictures/video. Choosing a stone "blind" without seeing anything isn't a good idea overall

Ah - let me double check if the vendor has pics of this 1.2 but, i am going in person to look at all 3. However based on feedback only 1 is the winner here and its 2-3k cheaper than the other 2.

If in person doesn't pan out; ill be back to the drawing board.

Without pics I can't say one way or the other. But 41 and 34 are the most complimentary angles. Is there a reason you want to buy from the vendor who is showing these stones vs a super ideal like I linked above?

I am just seeing the linked ones! I will take a look at them, thanks!

The vendor is a small shop, local and the owner is a very old family friend. I am wanting to support them IF they are able to get me what I am looking for.
