New Tanzanite e ring

Hi,
I''ve been lurking for a while reading all the posts while i tried to figure out what i wanted for my engagement ring. my fiance proposed on Dec 23rd and gave me a .8 oval cut Tanzanite with 12 .01 ct wt diamonds six on each side. I love it its so gorgeous, but My question is, however, how SOFT is the stone? i''m so freaked out i''m going to damage it that i rarely want to wear it! Also, how should i clean it? the fingerprints on the top from everyone grabbing my hand wanting to see it are stressing me out! any suggestions? Please?

tanzanite is pretty soft.. 6-7 on the mohs scale, so you do want to be careful with it. as far as cleaning, the best thing would be warm soapy water and a soft toothbrush.

Congratulations!!! I have a tanzanite ring and yes it is a 6-7 on the mohs scale of hardness. But haven''t had any problems with it. I clean it with a mild jewelry cleaner. PICS please!!!!!
