New Ruby Ring

I mentioned in an earlier thread I've been a lurker. I have such a love of colored stones and by reading and reading and looking and looking through this board, I've learned SO much.

I want to share with you my most prized possession which has just been set by my jeweler (I think he did a fabulous job). I absolutely love it. The ruby is so absolutely RED. It just takes my breath away.
Stats:
Ruby - 1.56 ct unheated (cannot believe my good fortune)
Diamond - 2 pairs - .48 ct each - .96 tcw

Thank you, everyone! I wanted the 'classic' look and am so glad all of you think the stone and the setting are well suited. I truly LOVE it and couldn't be more proud an owner

The ruby was purchased from a long time jeweler of a good friend and I was looking at the exact right time. I was told by my jeweler a piece like this is VERY hard to come by. He immediately offered to buy it from me for more than my purchase price on the spot when I brought it to him to be set.

May I make a suggestion? So that your ring is insured for the correct replacement value, it would be helpful to have an AGL report stating that the Ruby is unheated and free from treatments. If you ever lost the ring, you'd want to be able to get the same thing again and without having a report from a lab, you may well be offered a smaller payout. I know you probably can't bear to part with it for a second but it's worth the pain of a few weeks to have peace of mind.

LovingDiamond, thank you for the suggestion. How much is the cost for the appraisal? I was just wondering. I'm rather nervous about sending the ring away via post office. The ring is back and forth between my safe deposit box and home.
