Well it's been a few weeks now since my tennis bracelet project came to a close, so it's now onto the next one  I have a pair of delicate white gold diamond earring jackets and have been cooking up the idea of yellow stone studs in yellow gold martini settings to wear in them. I can't find ANYTHING ready made, so have contacted the lovely Michael E, and he was onto it pronto!

My mum has 3 piercings in each lobe and fills them with coloured stone studs, which she loves. However most of what she has are cheap plated ones in colours she adores, like pale pink and blue. It's her birthday in February (Valentine's Day!) so I've asked Michael for some little baby martinis (3mm a pop or so) with real gemstones to fill the spots! I'm hoping to end up with some 5.5mmish yellowy studs for myself (probably citrine), and a pair of pale blue 3mm and a pair of pale pink 3mm for ma, all in YG martinis.

Does anyone have any coloured stones in martini settings? I've kind of just concocted all this in my noggin with little or no inspiration, so if anyone out there has anything that vaguely matches my description, I'd love to see!
Thanks! :wavey:

I do have a 3 prongs martini coloured stone earrings that are modified to be used as earring charms.

Mine are 4.5mm pink tourmalines. And ugh, the color came out weird, but at least this gives you an idea...

Pardon me, DandiAndi...

Cellentani, would you mind sharing where you got the halo settings for your pink tourmalines? They're beautiful! I have a similar pair of tourmalines.

babynurse, I don't mind at all! I got them in the NY diamond district - Klim Jewelry on 47th. They came as a set with a 4-prong setting that I put my OECs in (I have a thread - just check my profile). I was able to get an extra pair of martini settings at a findings place, also in the district. I now have a pair of unheated yellow zircons, so I'll have to get yet another pair of martinis when I'm back. What size are your tourmalines?

Thanks very much, cellentani! Mine are 5.2 mm rubellites, cut by Bob Kast and they look just like your tourmalines. They were originally supposed to be side stones for a peridot, but the proportions are off so I'm going to have them set for earrings!

Unfortunately, I'm not likely going to be in NY anytime soon, so I'll check and see if they have something online.

They have a limited selection on their website, so I'd recommend that you call. They have halos in various sizes, so just tell them what size your stones are. I found the prices to be quite reasonable, and the workmanship and melee quality are very nice. Let me know if you have any other questions - I'm happy to help.

Gosh, thank you so much! I will definitely call them.

Ooh Chrono that's exactly how I hope my yellow studs will turn out! YUMMO!! I do love them as dangles though! Thanks so much for posting!! :appl: :appl:

cellentani, they are beyond stunning   The pink is to die for, and the jackets are absolutely perfect. Thankyou for sharing them with me!! :lickout:
No worries, babynurse! :wavey: Ooh please post pics of your rubellites once they're set!

This is one of my favorite subjects! Be sure to post lots of pics.

BTW I love both pairs of earrings above...

Lauren, ahhhh NO WAY!!!   GMTA indeed, lovely! That's the exact pair of jackets I have from jewelryhoo, squeeee! :twirl: I can't wait to see yours, and $140 all up?! WOW!
Treenbeen, I absolutely will! :wavey:

Well I just transferred some dosh to Michael, he's making up a pair of 5.5mm citrines, a pair of 3mm baby blue zircons and a pair of 3mm pale pink tourmalines, all in 14k YG martini settings. They should be in my hot little hands before Christmas. Can't wait! :appl:

Michael sent me pics of my citrines, I love them! Just the warm, sunny yellow I was after!

They look great and the diamond jacket adds a lot of pizzaz!

They're so pretty and your Mum is going to love hers as well! I've wanted halo jackets for ages but never seem to find any! You've inspired me so it may have to be another project for 2011 now!

Wow, those are fantastic! The halos look very sparkly, and makes the citrines really pop. Perfect size for your ear too! I have a pair of yellow zircons that I can't wait to set, and you're making me even more antsy, lol. I like yellow earrings because they're quite neutral - you can wear them with just about anything. Hope you and your mom enjoy the new earrings.

Thanks heaps Chrono, LovingDiamonds and cellentani!! They're my absolute new favourite earrings. I sold my 1.00ct diamond studs a few weeks back and *gasp* don't feel the need to replace them, now that I have my yellow beauties

Hi DandiAndi! Your earrings are so amazing - you've inspired me to get my own :naughty:

I ended up buying a pair the same earring jackets as yours. Although I was a bit underwhelmed when they arrived from China as each jacket had at least one or two cloudy diamonds. Could you let me know if yours are the same? They look so great and perfect in your photos and I'm not sure how to go about making a complaint to the ebay vendor - I don't like to kick up a fuss if it's unwarranted.

Oh, gorgeous gorgeous! Love the cheerful brilliant yellow & the jackets are just perfect!

as most know, i'm not a halo fan......having said that, i want you to know how much i like your yellow studs in their jackets. the jackets are thin and do not over power the real star of the show.

ARGH bleeblue, sorry to hear you aren't happy with your jackets!! I'll be honest and say that the diamonds in mine are really spot on, they're even and pretty bright and clear, no noticeably snotty ones anywhere. I'd let them know you're not thrilled with them and see what they say, it can't hurt! I had them ordered in a custom size and they were very accommodating. Good luck, let me know how you go!
Thankyou JewelFreak! I love your description of they yellow, it sure is cheerful! I do get lots of compliments on them. Thanks hon! :wavey:

Aww MZ, that's such a lovely thing to say! I feel rather special now  I'm in the process of having some diamond studs made to sneak into my jackets in time, can't wait for that, but for now I'm very content with my little bits of sunshine! :wink2:

Andi, GMTA, girl! I just picked up a pair of yellow grossular garnets from Gem Select and had them set in a 4.5mm halo martini stud with jacket combo by Jewelryhoo/lan.bo4. Ebay listing here; http://cgi.ebay.com/Round-4-5mm-14K-Gold-Diamond-Semi-Mount-jacket-Earrings-/270675821017?pt=US_Fine_Earrings&hash=item3f058941d9

I'm picking up the settings from my jeweler tonight. Whole project is costing me $140. :naughty:

Nothing to share since you have seen a couple of small spessartites that I bought from GemSelect in a different posting (I posted them on sides of my sapphire) but I just want to express my admiration with their service. The shipment was fast, the stones nicely arranged, I bought too many and had to return many of them back. I was afraid I may be in default time-wise but I got a gracious note from them saying that since I got the approval for return on time, I do not need to worry about the actual shipment time. Prompt, sell good products, too bad that it is hard to find matching stones for my sapphires. But I left some stones with me for other projects, and I shall definitely buy from them again.
