The offerrings are less than the last gemscoop, but I thought everyone would be highly interested.

The only thing that caught my eye is the chrysobery but then again, I''m saving up my money for his shopping list in Tuscon.

Could someone please buy the teal spinel and save me from myself?

My first Gem Scoop! I like the spinel, tourmaline or sapphire. I could afford the spinel or tourmaline. But I have cold feet and don't feel educated enough to jump on it.

Of the batch, I like the tourmaline the best. The spinel is too dark. and the sapphire looks almost colourless except for some steely colour. BUY the tournaline!

The cut is great as usual, and the colour looks saturated and very pleasant.

It''s funny because most blue spinels I see remind me of natural colored diamonds in color only. This one reminds me of an irradiated blue diamond. Not a bad thing at all, just an observation.

My personal concern with the tourmaline is that there might be some yellow in it. I am not fond of yellow-green.

The teal colour is actually very pretty, but even Jeff admits on his webpage that is tone is dark.

Then shoot him an email asking him if there's any yellow in it. His stones are fully refundable so there's no worry if you end up not liking it. I'd get moving soon (at least by showing an interest via email) because his stones do sell very quickly.

Can you tell I'm in the "enabling" mood this morning?

I WANT that teal spinel! I love really saturated stones anyway, so... I WANT that teal spinel! :-)

I''m already imagining it set in 18k yellow gold.... Soooooooo pretty!

It doesn't look like your typical "neon" tourmaline, and it looks more like a nice green tourmaline, if that makes any sense. Some people like the more neon colors, which is more typical of BrownEyedGirl's seafoam tourmaline in the last gemscoop. It's a pretty stone though if you like greenish tourmaline, but I would ask about extinction in various light, and I would also ask about any olive or yellow modifiers.

Is that the stone that is in her avatar? Becuase that''s not what I would think of neon! Gee - color can be so subjective. I LOVE the stone in her avatar. I wasn''t able to find more specific pics of it in a thread though.

I did email and ask about the yellow. I like blue-green colors. But without any hint of yellow.

Yes, it's the one in her avatar. It's considered neon because it appears to glow under low light conditions. Strangely, only very saturated and vivid tourquise or aqua coloured tourmalines tend to do this, but not all of them do. The newly posted tourmaline on Jeff's website does not appear to have this "neon" quality.

I am mainly interested in buying sapphire and spinel, but that sapphire color didn''t appeal to me at all. The spinels were pretty, but I don''t think I can pull off a 10mm stone and the other was too small! I like the tourmaline.

I personally love that purple-pink spinel. I want it but it is too big for me.

I also love the cut and shape of the tourmaline.

I also posted a picture of a super neon Afghani stone at the top of one of the last pages of the colored stone eyecandy thread. It would give you an idea. That stone is considered, IMO, very neon.

Link please...I want to ooohhh and aghhhhh but am not familiar with "gemscoop"

The teal blue spinel is my favorite of those gems in the latest Gemscoop. But I have to save my $$ to pay for my wedding ring replacement, which should be finished at the jeweler''s in feb!

can''t wait to see what Mr White comes up with after the Tucson Gem Show!

A big congratulations to Jeff for his award! It''s about time.

We are good at being bad.

I like the spinal too, but it is too big for me. I would never wear it.

I emailed about the Tourmaline but haven''t heard back yet so guess I''m 1049th on the list!!!!

Don''t lose hope, LovingDiamonds! I emailed about the teal spinel early this morning and haven''t heard back either. I''m sure Jeff''s super busy -- maybe we''ll both get lucky and get to buy the stones we want! :)

Good point...plus, today is a holiday in the US (Martin Luther King Day), so a lot of folks might not be checking their email.

Well fingers crossed for us all then!

Love that teal tourmaline - I''d love to see some shots of it IRL to see what is meant by "dark"

Well the tourmaline I emailed about is sold. And I did send the email pretty quickly I thought. Wow.
