New engagement ring!

I got engaged on Wednesday, before Thanksgiving, and here is my ring! I don’t have the appraisal yet, so all I know is that it’s 1.73, E, VVS1, in a custom platinum setting. Size 4.25, a little loose in cold weather but snug when it’s warm, so I guess it’s perfect. The band is very thin with 15 tiny diamonds on each side, but it feels pretty sturdy. The diamond is set as low as can be, so hopefully I won’t bang it on anything. The prongs don’t fully “cup” the diamond all the way up – fiancé says you can see the whole diamond better that way – hope that’s not a problem with security. I like how you can see so much of the sides and the top at the same time with only 4 prongs. I love it! It’s so sparkly in all kinds of light and reminds me of a sparkling pool of water in the sunlight.

Teagreen, have a jeweler or an appraiser check the setting for you and tell you if it''s secure or not.

of course i love the big size and the thin band!! i''d love to see more side profile shots too. is the setting designer or was it custom? it looks beautiful.

i would also ask your appraiser when you inquire about the prongs to ensure that the thin diamond band is secure as well...with all this talk of diamonds popping out and not enough metal etc..i''d just get that double checked to ensure that the appraiser doesn''t see any red flags with the prongs or the band.
