I'm kind of new again. Haven't been on in many years. But insurance is requiring me to get an updated appraisal to issue my policy on the stone in my wedding ring. My old one is over 10 years old.
When we had it appraised before, it was sent out of state to a PS endorsed appraiser. Unfortunately, I don't have the time for sending it off (and honestly, not sure I would feel comfortable doing that again). But my concern is that if I have it appraised locally, it might end up undervalued as I fear they would not be familiar with the cut, which is no longer commercially available and, in my mind, irreplaceable
Would you let the coverage lapse for a short time to send it off? (there is a possibly it could be expedited and be done and back in time, but I might just cry knowing it's out there away from me!), or
Take your chances with a local appraiser?
