Kristy the larger pears is the way to go with that gorg. diamond of yours. I think you made the best choice. And by the way I love your rb it''s so beautiful...
KD,
I am sooo late in responding to this thread. The pears look awesome. I can''t wait to see your ring. It''s going to be drop dead gorgeous. How many more weeks??
Kristy sweetie HOWEVER are you going to fit your big ole stone AND larger pears on that little 3.5 finger of yours? Leon has his work cut out for him. You aren''t going to be able to close your fingers girl!
Yes, the wait is killing me!!! Leon said it would probably take about 4 weeks. He got my check yesterday so I''m guessing 4 weeks from yesterday -- May 1? He mumbled under his breath that since this is an easy ring to make, it could take as little as 3 weeks, but his studio is really busy and he couldn''t guarantee that. Fortunately, I''ll be out of town all of next week visiting my mother (and leaving the kids at home with DH, eeeeeek!) so I''ll be preoccupied and busy with other things for 1 of those 4 excruciating weeks.
I asked Leon multiple times if he thought the 1.14 pears would really, truly fit across my finger and he insisted yes each time. He didn''t hesitate at all. I''m not sure, but my guess is that all 3 stones will have to sit a tad higher in the basket and the pears would be angled in order to fit. I''m very anxious to see how this will turn out! Thanks for being excited with me!!!
Mat -- Leon says he does not send photos of his work in progress.
I asked him again today (for the 10,000th time!) if this ring is do-able given the size of all the stones, he said yes and that it will be comfortable as well.
By the way, sevens -- thanks for that picture of Headlight''s ring. Mine will look very similar, I think, in terms of the angling. Now that I''ve thought more about it, I don''t think I''ll mind angled sides because that will cause the center stone to pop more...remain center stage, know what I mean? If they''re too linearly placed, I think it starts to look like a band instead of a center stone with sides. But who knows....it''s all speculation until I actually see the ring!
hey Kristy,
I just read in another thread that you aren''t planning on wearing a wedding band? Not going for the Angie Harmon 3-stone with eternity band look?
Mrs. S -- no, I don''t plan on wearing it with a band, but I''m leaving the option open.
If I get a lot of "When''s the wedding?" inquiries, then my 2.5mm plain platinum band could work with it. OR, perhaps a 2mm plain knife edge might be dainty and subtle and it might match the pinched shank on either side of the pears. I dunno, I''ll have to see the finished ring first. But I definitely will not wear an eternity or other diamond band with the ring, that would be overkill on my hand. (now if I were 6 feet tall with fingers that go on forever like Angie Harmon, I''d probably think differently!)
Kristy, I want details of your beauty. I saw AH''s, it is lovely and yours will be too. I agree with all who said go bigger. I really do not think you will regret it. The SECOND I get permission to get the more expensive or bigger item, OFF I GO. And, you never know what the future holds. Enjoy it now, love it and cherish it, and see what happens later on! (I hate promising I will be content, cause I know how my mind works!
I''m still a little apprehensive of my decision to go bigger with the sidestones, particularly around the issue of how they will "wrap" around my small finger, but Leon insisted it was going to be fine so I just put my trust in the artist. The ring will arrive THIS FRIDAY (if all goes well). I don''t know how I''m going to make it through this week!!!!!
Kristy, patience is a virtue for sure, one I lack! The time will seem to crawl by at times, but before you know it you will be wearing it. And, if I know at all, you will get very used to your gorgeous glam new bling in NO time flat! Like I said, I doubt you will regret going bigger, but might regret not going bigger!
Thanks for the support, ladies. Unfortunately, Leon does not send pictures of work in progress. I think they''re still working on it, soooo....no Leon-snapped pics until the day he sends it off, which hopefully is Thursday!
I don''t know how I missed this thread until now, but I have no doubt that Leon was right about the big pears. They look perfect! And well worth the extra money. You''re getting a Leon, what''s another few dollars?
I can''t wait to see it tooooooo
