Ok so follow up to this thread which I now realized I posted in the wrong forum…

But I’m being offered these two diamonds for the same price. Plan is to have it cut into an OEC if feasible, which is the only way in keeping it.

The J:

The G:

To my eye the J looks better but I’m not sure if after the recut and at in normal viewing conditions if the G would be okay.

Given the G is $600 more expensive but being offered to me for no extra charge, I’m inclined to consider it.

As an aside, friendly diamonds really does live up to their name.

If the G is being offered for the same price, I would choose the G. I think a CVD J might have enough of a brownish tint to be bothersome, unless you're looking for more tint for an OEC.

Do you think this will be problematic? And I understand they’ll lose a lot of weight. Do you think one will lose less weight than the other? I’m trying to get it to 8.3-8.5mm

It probably won't be visible to the naked eye, but are you able to view it in person during your 30 days, or is it going straight to Southwest Diamond Cutters?

What do they say about the potential loss? The G seems to have more pavilion to work with since it's at 41, but you might lose more getting the table down from 58% to a typical OEC table. The J might lose less in the table area, but the 40.5 pavilion doesn't leave much to work with. I'm not an expert, so it's best to hear what they suggest.

I was going to have it shipped to me first.

What if you got both so that you could make a decision with all the info?

I’ll have to ask if they’ll allow it. They offered me the G instead of the J because they said the J will look too yellow since I only wear yellow gold.
