Need to buy soon and need help with finding a round diamond. Stuck on color grade.

I originally starting looking for ovals for an engagement ring I was looking to purchase but found out, that it is an impossible task to find and define what is a great oval diamond. Thus I have turned my attention to a round diamond and have specifically been looking at Brian Gavin and WhiteFlash for options. The setting will be yellow gold with a solitaire or pave setting. I listed a few I found below. (also is it just me or is Brian Gavin settings more expensive then other places online?)

Budget for the Diamond is about max of $8500 for diamond and ring. BGD is having a march madness sale (1-1.24carats), thus why I am trying to narrow down to take advantage of it.

The Diamond specs:
Cut: The best cut possible - why I am looking at BGD and WhiteFlash
Size 1.0 - 1.4 (when is a difference in size noticeable from 1 carat? 1.15, 1.2, 1.25 etc. or 6.7, 6.8, 7 etc.)
Clarity- SI1 or better (just want it eye clean but V2 would be optimal since there should be no worries at that clarity)
Color- This is by far has been the hardest decision for me to make. But no lower than J for sure. H would be the best compromise I think. But significantly limits me to a smaller diamond 1.1 or so diamond.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

What made you choose the 1.15 I VS2 over the other ones? Just curious because I have not been able to narrow down all the I color diamonds in the 1.14-1.16 range
 
If Villanova wins tonight I am guessing it will bump the sale to 10% off

This was the only search that met the criteria, when I specified, in the Signature H&A series. I was VERY specific: AGS000.

Is size even noticeable from 1 carat to 1.15 or 1.2?

Would it be in my best interest to to have the prongs in platinum and not yellow gold like the band or does it even matter? Will J make that big of difference over I or H?

There will be a noticeable difference in mm width, not Carat weight. Usually, the noticeable, side by side, visible difference begins around the 0.2mm mark.
As for the above diamonds, I like the first 2, but, due to lack of images, 3 & 4 are our for me, unless visual aids can be provided to you, upon request.

I am some what worried about the J color but it is very hard for me to distinguish online from the other ones.

If I could only consider buying from BGD and given your specs, I would probably go with the 1.15ct I color, assuming the missing images equate to being acceptable - it’s a relatively ‘safe’ color choice, it’s in the middle of the other two options in terms of spread, and it happens to leave you with the most $ leftover to put toward the setting.
 
I am not limited to BGD and just seems his diamonds are the most consistent along with a few other sites. I would consider buying from somewhere else any diamond you might suggest the_mother_thing?


I originally wanted to get a oval diamond but could not find any I liked? Thoughts on August Vintage just getting AGS ideal cut for ovals?

I posted a few further up. I am confused though - is your $8500 budget including the setting or not including the setting?
 
with the setting(but I may just get a solitaire setting and put more towards the diamond.....but with the BGD sale right now I can get about $500-700 off. Probably a max of $8000 on the diamond for all intensive purposes.

Okay; and, is this diamond for you or someone else (sorry if I missed that earlier)? If someone else, what does the wearer prefer/want? Round or oval? How color-sensitive is the wearer? Is the wearer a ‘brand’ person who would prefer having an ACA/CBI/etc. brand name, or someone who might prefer a little bigger diamond and willing to sacrifice elsewhere (e.g., color) to get size? Is it possible or likely there may be an upgrade down the road at some point?
 
what is the difference between cut above and expert selection?
 
This is for an engagement for someone else. They want a yellow gold band-solitaire or pave. She has told me she would like either round or oval. (determining a quality of a oval diamond for me has been a chase down a never ending rabbit hole). Settled more towards a round because more predictable of what you will get, buying online. But since August has gotten ideal cut from AGS that may change my mind. (Ovals is something different which I like and think she would too).

She does not care about brands at all, but I do care about the quality that I am going to purchase, but that does not mean it has to be a brand either. Upgrade is not a possibility, she always just said if anything she would just get a bigger one for right hand if it ever came to that.
(she is a pretty content person)

She has always said you can get a really nice 1 carat or even less diamond and I would be fine with that. She doesn't even really get into the details of the diamond. (I am a avid researcher before I buy something so if anything it is me that is probably making it more difficult than anything. I just wanted to get her a little something bigger and noticeably bigger than a 1 carat whether that is 1.10 to 1.35 (6.7-7mm) would be ideal but no bigger. (is there a major difference between 1.15 and 1.25 IDK)

I do not believe she will be to color sensitive as long as it is not blatant, and from looking at J colors on here its hard to tell unless compared right next too another diamond but I and H seem to always like white to me. Also not sure if the yellow gold band would help or hurt with the lower grade.

Recap-
Carat 1.1-1.35 round (oval if august vintage seems like a good bet)
Clarity Eye Clean SI1 or V2 or better
Color- J or better
Cut- BEST cut
Max of 8K but obviously the lower the better right!
