I recently purchased a stone from Bill Pearlman who was the most pleasant and helpful person I think I have ever dealt with in a retail situation. The first stone I listed is the one I bought and anxiously waiting to be completed by Ritani so I can ask the girl of my dreams later this month to marry me. But I now find myself addicted to learning about diamonds and their intricacies, especially on this forum. I have also posted a second stone that seems very very similar to mine but for a substantial amount more. Apart from the AGS grading, where could the difference lie. Mine is closer to a true square but the specs seem so nearly identical. Is it possibly in the girdle, but I thought the AGS stone would face up more given the same specs and a smaller girdle.

Son please analyze until you can''t analyze anymore, because I can''t get enough of this discussion.

very difficult to tell what the spread of a pr is going to be by a lab report''s angles.

I''m sorry but I thought that the measurements for the two stones were enough to determine the spread. If there is something else that is needed please inform exactly how you find the spread.

I know there are some experts out there that could comment on these two stones.

The VS1 would move that one into a higher price category. Was the stone you bought on consignment, by chance? That could also make it less than usual. How much more was the second stone?

I guess I should have mentioned this earlier but the price difference is quite drastic. The first stone is the one I purchased and I paid $6,250 for it while the second stone is listed for a cash price of $8,678. I had already dismissed the difference between VS1 and VS2 because there is no possible way that one clarity grade is worth nearly $2,500. Also, it was not on consignment. My stone is new and supposedly from the cutter who brands under the Daniel K line.

Well, maybe $800-1000 is for the higher clarity, and there is a premium for AGS0 princess stones. But it still looks like you got a pretty good deal on your stone! So congratulations!!!
