I have been using this site a lot to become up to speed on the diamond knowledge ASAP and really respect the honesty you give. Looking to buy around a carat diamond and found this 0.9 ct below. I'm looking to pull the trigger on this if you guys think its worth the price. I like the fact that its a wider/shorter diamond and the diameter is closer to a 1.0 ct. The price is $4460. Let me know if there is anything that you see concerning with this diamond. I'm not sure what pops out as a red flag on the different images attached below.

6.28 - 6.31 x 3.73 mm

It's a 60/60 diamond, which can offer good value and spread. I'd pass on this one though. The idealscope shows too much leakage of light under the table.

I totally agree with @HappyNewLife . I'd pass on this one.

Edited to add. What is your budget for just the diamond?

The reason it is lower in price than a Tolk style MRB is that it is a 60/60 style. The crown is lower than we recommend on these forums, even for a 60/60. The idealscope shows leakage. And the stone will favor white light over colored light and fire. And it is at a higher risk for chipping.

Read John Pollard's posts in this thread for more information. Karl's too.

JA will only give three IS images/email. Put you top 3 on hold ASAP.

If you like 60/60 style diamonds, this is one worth requesting and IS image on.

For a balance of fire and brilliance, something like this would be nice. My eyes may deceive me, so ask JA, but does this have a silver/grey undertone? If so, they are very rare and I happen to love them over the yellow. And...its big.

Will keep looking when you give some more info about your wants.

That's my ring! With a cushion halo - mine is a round. SimonG is a great choice. I haven't lost a stone in six years of banging it around. I love it.

Just saw your edit comment... I'd like to stay 5-6k. Just seemed like the first one was good bang for the buck other than the ideal scope image...

These are two others that I saved. I will have to browse again to pick more. I don't have IS for these but if you think they are worth asking for then I will

Both scored 1.3 HCA. The .90 appears to have more defined arrows, but the .93 looks promising in that it has an AGS 0 - ideal cut certificate, though it does have that one area of ‘digging’ (I believe it’s called) on the AGS Report ASET image (the two green sections on the girdle at 11:00). Someone else here will hopefully better explain what that means, as I read about it but still didn’t quite connect the dots in my head on it; however, I will share that the 1.41ct diamond I recently bought had the same thing, and I cannot see nor distinguish it with my eyes in person.

@Nic Cach -

Hi Nic - and welcome!

For my money, I'd go down to an H in color and up to a ct in size. A lot of women get a lot out of that magic 1ct number, and an H is still a white stone. I'm looking at SI1 clarity - which will almost certainly be eye clean at that size.

I found a beautifully cut stone, very clean looking, lovely faceting - 1ct on the nose. With your James Allen PS discount, it should come in just under 6k. Very pretty stone.

How do I redeem the PS discount? :$$):

You only need to ask the JA associate you’re working with to apply the “Advantage pricing.” Easy peasy! =)2

Just tell the sales person you speak to on the phone that you're a Pricescope member. Also, use the wire price.

Yes that's a very good IS
