Hello,
I''ve been lurking for a couple of months and finally decided to join. I WISH I had found this site a long time ago but most especially the last couple of months so that I could''ve pointed dh to this site to do some research when he finally decided to upgrade my e-ring to more than a carat after 10 years of marriage
(my e-ring was an uncertified 5/8 round solitaire).
Anyway, he got me this diamond from Kay Jeweler''s for Christmas. He was able to trade-up my old e-ring because he bought that from Kay''s, too. A close family friend looked for the diamond for him and she chose this one because she said it is an excellent cut. I think this diamond is beautiful but just knowing that it came from Kay''s I sort of had misgivings about the true value of this stone (IGI certificate--which Kay Jewelers carry as far as I know). Imagine my surprise when I finally received my certificates and it was a GIA certificate!! I never knew Kay Jewelers carries GIA stones (although our friend did say that she had to order from the Diamond Room so I guess that''s a different thing).
I think I''ve attached a copy of the GIA cert that I scanned (hope I did it right). I''ve input the numbers on the HCA and it scored a 1.1--is this a nice diamond ring? I know there are a lot of experts here and your opinions would really be appreciated by this newbie. Thanks so much!! And I''m in awe of (and blinded by
) everybody''s rings
.
