I found an ebay vendor who is selling a 3.04ct. solitare for around 13,000....I asked for a picture of the stone unmounted and this is what they sent me.....P.S.- stone is said to have color of "I" and a clarity of "VS-2"....What do you all think?

3[1].04 ct. rd. I VS2.JPG

I think you need a lot more information than this. Is the stone certified, and if so, buy which agency? What are the specs (measurements, table %, depth%, crown angle, pavilion angle, girdle, culet, .....) ?

the price is low for an ideal stone.

I always believe that you get what you pay for. It is no different with diamonds. good luck.

Just be very, VERY careful!!

The price is very low for that kind of stone,Why would they want to sell it for that price if the real price is around $20,000, any store or wholesaler would have given him more for it without him looking to sell it on e-bay, from the looks of things that stone looks hazy.I would find out if the stone has a certificate from a worl renowned lab.ie. G.I.A, E.G.L,H.R.D,AGS,I.G.I.,if not I would not buy it.

There are atleast 5 very possibly eye visable inclusions visible in that picture.
vs2? dont think so.

I simular diamonds are selling for 20k -- i havent researched an exact number but 13k is low for a quality diamond that claimed size, color, clarity so the point is valid -- why would this person sell to you at such a huge discount?
Who would they lose thousands of dollars just to sell you a diamond?

Have you read the thread about the ebay nightmare.

A 3.04 carat I VS2 for 13K. I don't believe everything is spot-on. Something is up. Either:

a. it's poorer cut and the diameter is no bigger that a ideal cut 2.3 carat stone.
b. The color is worse than I.
c. The clarity is worse that VS2.

Even EGL certified diamonds on pricescope search, with 3 carat, I, VS2, cost $17+K.

unless the seller is a poor schlep who really needs to sell a stone to make his mortgage payments, that is not legit. WHY would a jeweler/power ebay seller sell a stone that cheap? HE WOULDN'T!

walter, the picture you are showing us does not look like 3 carat diamond.

the tweezers compared to this diamond indicate this stone might just be half a carat or perhaps even smaller.

be very careful here. i think they just show you a nice picture of another stone.

good luck, robbe

I was going to say the same thing. This stone does not look like 3 cts, at all... I would be very skeptical of this deal.
