Sorry if a dupe, seem to be having problem creating a post..

Hi,

I think I read pretty much everything I could here as well as on diamonds.pro. I purchased a ring from bluenile.com/ca a while back and would like to up-size the diamond using their upgrade policy.

I am looking at the following characteristics:

Budget - ideally CA$14-15 but if the premium is worth it I would consider going a bit higher
Cut/shape Round (in a 18K white, solitaire ring)
Ideal or Signature Ideal cut
1.4-1.5 ct
VS1 or VS2 clarity
G or H color
Polish and Symmetry both Excellent
Fluorescence - Faint or None
Depth 60-62.5%
Table 54-59%

Aside from an opinion on the whether the above specs are reasonable, I have the following questions and would appreciate any help.

Is it worth going with Signature Ideal vs Ideal? This will probably end up costing more than CA$15K; is it worth it?
VS1 vs VS2 - is it worth the upgrade?
G or H color? Or should I even consider I?
Fluorescence - None or Faint, does it matter?
Which one do you think is a better deal/value/option? Thank you.

As long as the VS2 is eye-clean, it's good enough for me. However, VS2s may not be clean from the side (pavilion view) so if that
is an issue you'll have to ask about the particular VS2 you are interested in or move up to VS1 to be sure.

G or H color? Or should I even consider I?
G OR H...this is usually considered the normal range for people who are not color sensitive. If you want to maximize your budget
you could move to an I which most people consider very white from the top view but may have a slight tint when tilted or when
viewing the pavilion. Safer to stay at G/H unless you know otherwise.

Fluorescence - None or Faint, does it matter?
Doesnt matter IMO.
Which one do you think is a better deal/value/option? Thank you.
Well, my favorite was the second one but it does look like it was the most expensive one :(( .

This one has a decent cut. I worry just a tad about the feathers but I'm not sure if BN can make sure that
they are not visible and do not cause any structural issue. Probably not on either but always good to check.

Really nice numbers. This would be my first choice.

No, angles are not complimentary.

This stone is good. It falls into the BIC range and not the TIC range. BIC is Brilliant Ideal Cut vs
TIC which is Tolkowsky Ideal Cut which is consider a good blend of both Fire and Brilliance.

It is an AGS000 which is nice but look at the computer generated ASET image on the report. It doesnt look to
hot. I'm not sure how much emphasis you should put on this image, but it could be an issue.

When I click on any of those BN links it does not take me to that diamond.
It takes me to the Bluenile home page.

Am I alone?

You have to copy and paste the link into the address bar.

Hold down CTRL and then click the link. It will take you right to the page in a different tab. :wavey:

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond.

It seems that no matter how I play around with BN's filters I can't find a diamond cheaper than CA$17K. Is there one/any criteria that I could loosen up? Thank you.

The first one is ok...it's not $17k. If they send you a stone and you dont like it, you can send it back right?

The only thing you could go down on is size or color (down to I). If you go to SI1 you could end up with something
visible in your stone.

How much do you get as credit on your existing diamond (trade in)?

Thank you. Is it fair to say that going from H or G down to I in color would be a negligible change in this case?

A few grand, whatever I buy has to be at least twice as expensive. I still want to limit the gross/total cost ideally to CA$15-16K.

Actually what do you think of this one? The HCA Tool seems to grade this well. Thank you.
