I've been doing a good amt of research/reading recently as I'm looking for an engagement ring and have been through a good many threads on here as well. Looking for some specific feedback today though on a loose diamond I've found. Don't have a picture of it yet but it's been rated "eye clean" by the seller. When I presented the question to a CSR comparing this diamond to one that was a little more expensive, had a better clarity grade but a lower H color, he openly said this would actually be the better diamond in a ring, while the other one would be a better loose diamond.

Any thoughts or input would be very much welcomed, thank you in advance.

I would only buy an I1 from a well-regarded Pricescope vendor with an excellent reputation and a super strong gemological background to scrutinize durability and eye cleanliness.

I got my cushion H&A from BGD in I1 totally eye clean and love it so sparkly. I think i agree with teobdl only buy I1 from those master cutter.

That's good to know, what was the size and color of the one you purchased if you don't mind me asking?

Also, who are these trusted Pricescope vendors? and how do they compare with Bluenile, James Allen, Zoara, Brian Gavin, etc?

If you have ever seen any of my previous posts on SI2-I1 clarities, I prefer them to be based on twinning wisps over feathers, crystals or clouds.

Reassuring to hear that. Going back and looking through some of your posts now. Already saw your comment on surface graining so that's another thing I'm less concerned with now, thanks.

I would say White Flash, GOG, High Performance Diamonds, Brian Gavin are the safest bets. That said, they don't really stock to many I1's because an I1 grade has an eye visible inclusion (technically, at magnification below 10x) and/or has transparency/brilliance issues because of the inclusion(s) and/or the inclusion makes it a durability risk.

yes i must agree it is a very rare case that he actually got I1 stone on his inventory.

Great insight, I think in the case of this particular diamond I'm looking at, the multiple twinning wisps could make it a durability risk.
