Hi guys, newbie here trying to get an engagement ring for my partner and found this D SI1 1.3c triple excellent, no fluorescence, HCA 1.7 for $10800. Trouble is that dark crystal in the lower right of the pic and a few other inclusions here and there. This image is 10x magnification according to the dealer. Do you think you could see these with the naked eye? IMG-20180110-WA0027.jpg IMG-20180110-WA0037.jpeg

si1, possibly. Did you see it in person? Did you see the inclusion?

Unfortunately not, the diamond is overseas and all the dealer gave me was a screenshot of this 10x magnification of the 3D image

.

Perhaps ... The inclusions under the table might appear as 'stubborn' specs of dust: visible if you are really looking.

There are other inclusions placed around 'arrow heads' that will end up next to or under prongs, so not visible.

Good to know. I thought as such because it was dark rather than a white crystal. THanks

Based on personal experience?

Yes. I’ve seen an SI1 with a larger black crystal inclusion in the very centre of the table that is completely eye clean. I have really sharp eyes as well, I am really short sighted. The pic that you have uploaded is really magnified. I would be very very surprised if anyone could see those inclusions. Definitely not at arms length. If you had good eyes and really, really really looked hard and knew where you were looking? Maybe. Probably not.

Here's the 3D image. I can see the inclusions but....

See if you can draw a circle with a 7mm diameter - that’s the size of the diamond. Now try and imagine how big the inclusions will be.
I know a lot of people on PS don’t like black crystals under the table - it’s a “mind clean” thing which I understand. But I think sometimes it goes a bit too far :-P

Yeah i just drew a 7mm circle and did a dot (would be about 0.2mm estimating off that pic) and i can see it :(2

Haha well, you can see a black dot on a white background sure. A well cut round brilliant will mask it. But that’s just my take =)2

For what it’s worth if you don’t mind blue fluorescence I would get this one for your money https://www.briangavindiamonds.com/...1.320-f-si1-round-diamond-ags-bl-104095888001 it’s a super ideal cut, cheaper, and bigger in diameter ;)2

Depends how sharp your eyes are, me I can see inclusions like that and then can never unsee them, that's the problem if you do work out where it is you will not then be able to unsee it.

Ask the vendor if it's eye clean under very close inspection to a fussy eye.

I am sorry but I really don’t love the inclusions, they reflect throughout the stone and will be really easy to see from the side view. I once had a diamond with similar inclusions and I couldn’t really live with them, mind you I know how an eye-clean SI2, so in my opinion, it is really about the type of inclusions and black crystals are some of my least favorite. I much prefer the BGD suggested above!

Yeah I noticed that and thought as such. What's the go with blue fluorescence? I shouldn't be lazy and just look it up on the search function. Unfortunately don't think my partner likes any fluorescence.

I'm probably similar in that once I see it, I can't unsee it :P

A lot of Asians (myself included at a point in time) do not like fluorescence because they see it as a “defect”. It isn’t. Do a search on PS for articles on the effect of fluorescence
