I''m a new member and have been trying to learn as much as I can by reading the tutorials and posts on this forum. I’ve decided to buy the daimond for me e-ring and am trying to decide between these two diamonds:

1.64 G SI1 (eye clean) ex-polish vg-symmetry gia excellent tbl-56 depth-62.2 crown- 36.5 pav-40.6 (angles) for $12,310.

or

1.64 G VS1 excellent polish/symmetry gia excellent tbl-61 depth-55 crown-33 pav-41 $14260

Would there be a noticeable appearance in the 2 stones that would justify the price difference? I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks

Is there a typo error with #2 stone? table and depth seems to be switch? If so, #2 is the better cut else #1 is. The higher price of #2 is due to it''s much higher clarity and better symm, so looks reasonable.

Did you mean tbl-55 depth-61? Otherwise, the stones can''t even be compared?

Ooops. Sorry. You are both correct. 2nd diamond should be tbl-55 depth-61 crown-33 pav-41. I am leaning towards the 2nd one. It seems to score well with a 0.6 on the HCA but sits just outside the AGS 0 box. Would there be a noticable difference in performance between this stone and an AGS 0?

It should be fine. HCA is a rejection tool not a selection tool. IS is required for further evaluation.

If you could get Idealscope images, that would be the next step, either could be nice diamonds.

Thanks for the suggestions. Here is the idealscope for the 2nd diamond. I think I''ll pull the trigger on this one. Any thoughts?

It looks super!

How about this one:
GIA 1.69 F VS2 vg-sym ex-pol crown-35 pav-40.8 table-56 depth-62.3 HCA-1.6

It would be about the same price as the prior 1.64 G VS1. I'm just worried about the slight leakage. Would this be noticable under most conditions compared to a better cut diamond?

Probably not noticeable. But why would you prefer this over the other stone? The color?

My reasoning was that for the same price, I''m getting a bigger stone with better color. If the idealscopes indicate similar light performance, I''d feel I was getting a better bang for the buck with the 2nd stone

True, took a look at your price again.

Nothing to worry about if you mean the edges, that is controlled intentional leakage which can aid desirable visual properties of the diamond!! It looks good. The extremely slight leakage at 4 o'clock and just before 6 o'clock under the table is not going to be perceptible to the human eye.
