Hello all! First time poster here, but I've enjoyed reading a lot of the advice that many of you have to offer. I'm currently in the market for an engagement ring and I know exactly what she wants, it's just a matter of finding it now. I was hoping that I could enlist the help of you all on the forum to possibly make finding this ring a much easier adventure.

As for the ring, her heart is set on getting a halo setting with a thin band. She's a petite girl, only 5 feet tall. So, thick bands make her fingers look smaller than they already are. For the center diamond, I would like to be in the .6 to 1 carat range, hopefully be able to get an eye clean SI1, color around G or H, and a cut of at least very good . My budget is around $3500 to $4000 for the band and the center stone.

Any help that you all may offer is greatly appreciated!

NFO helped with settings which I haven't looked at (has G0G improved that?)?

Using the search engine here, constraining for cut quality, this list emerges:

where the GOG ones will have pictures, and have been vetted already...

What shape will the center diamond be? Does she prefer prongs or bezel?

Adwar.com and Stuller.com also have some pretty settings. You might want to take a look.

Eternity diamonds doesn't have a bunch of images online but you can call them and ask for an ideal cut in the price range you are at-- and then post the diamond information here (table, depth, pavillion and crown angles)... and they have a lovely halo for a good price: http://www.eternitydiamonds.com/engagement-rings/diamond-engagement-ring/Evangeline-Round-Bezel-Set-Diamond-by-Eternity-%28.39-ctw.%29-155.htm they are also offering 10% off right now. It's worth a call, IMO. Tell them your out the door price for both the setting and the center stone and see what they offer you.

I would also do the same thing with pearlmans... call ask for Bill or Julien and ask for a center stone recommendation for this setting and see what they suggest: http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/115PP1/

And because of your budget and because it's Pearlmans... I would consider this ring (including the center stone) is a preowned ring isn't outside your comfort range--http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/previously-owned-jewelry/rings/206PO1/8/ It's platinum, Ritani, and has a one carat center stone. It's a little outside your budget, but they might work with you. And it's a great deal (better than anything else you might be able to get) if you are interested.

I know this is above your price range, but there is a previously owned Ritani Endless Love with a 1 ct diamond at Pearlman's at $5500. It is a very competitive price if you add up the price of a new Endless Love setting alone (~$3300), plus the cost of a 1 ct diamond. It's a size 5.5. It's at Pearlman's under "Great Deals", "Previously owned", page 2. (http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-specials/previously-owned-jewelry/rings/206PO1/8/)

You can also do a search for "halo" at the Pearlman's site for many other halo settings. The prices are sometimes for only the setting. You can contact them for a Pricescope discount, which does not apply to previously owned products I believe. They're a sponsor here, and many people (including myself) are very happy with them.

That is an excellent option. The specs are exactly what OP is looking for!

Gypsy, I just noticed your post! We think alike :) I am always looking at their "Good deals" section and just bought an eternity ring from there.

Ahh, but your link worked =) . Pearlmans has great things, my wedding band and my earrings are from their Good Deals section. Great minds! Link to your band? I'd love to see it!
