Hi Pricescopers! I need your help evaluating my ring. This is a 3.01 G VS2 VG/VG Asscher Cut, with handmade platinum shank/head, and micropave throughout. My question relates to how the diamond is set in the basket. I've attached a photo of the ring from a distance (picture 3), as well as 2 closeups of the basket setting--1 from the front and 1 from the side. As you can see, the front view (picture 2) shows that the diamond's culet is set slightly askew (not symmetrical in between the arms). From the side view (picture 1), the diamond's culet is set symmetrically. The diamond is set perfectly from the top down. My ring designer and his bench jeweler said that the setting is perfect, it's just the culet of the diamond that isnt perfectly symmetrical at the bottom of the stone. I revisited my appraiser and he said that while that may be the case, the diamond may be able to be moved slightly to the side to give symmetry in the basket from both the front and side. My appraiser said that all handmade work will have some imperfection, but this asymmetry seems to be fixable. So my question is: do you think this is a diamond/culet issue, or is this a workmanship issue and the diamond isn't set right? I don't think I'm crazy for making this an issue, but wanted to see if you all agree! Thanks for any perspective you can provide!!
