I posted this stone on someone else's thread:

This is a gorgeous modern cushion - Good Old Gold Signature cut. It's $16642 wire price. It's an SI1, so call them to see if it's eye clean.

I'd buy this stone in a heartbeat, no reservations.

ETA - I just called GOG for you and asked about the stone. It's not currently in house, but Matt from GOG was familiar with the stone and said it was eye clean. I'd definitely get them to call this one in.

Thanks so much for the post. Since I'm new to diamonds, can you explain why this is such a good stone?

Hits the 2 carat mark, very safe H colour and eye clean for an SI1. Cut looks great as evidenced by the magnified photo and ASET, with a 10 day refund and the option of a lifetime tradeup/buy back policy. GOG will also provide a video by request.

Thanks for the explanation. I'll request the video. I'm not in a huge rush to purchase a stone. I'd like to have one within a month. That said, do you think its worth it to keep looking for a better deal? While my budget on the stone tops out at $17k, if I could be $15k or under that would be amazing especially since I'm going to get a Victor Canera setting which are typically at least $3k.

No harm looking around but there's nothing that stands out currently at JA. You'll have to look at other vendors' inventory. I don't think I saw anything that meets your specification at ERD/BE. Depending on the design, the VCanera setting could be anywhere from $3K to $5K.

I saw this one, too. OP is afraid of SI1, unfortunately.

Hi Danielxlin -

OP said he just wanted something eye clean.

I would be open to dropping as long as it is completely eye clean."

This is eye clean, so more than worth a shot.

Here is a link to the video GOG sent. The stone is on the right and being compared to another cushion.

WOW! The stone I linked to is the one on the right. You asked why it was such a good stone.

For me, it comes down to a number of factors, though Chrono hit most of them. Getting an eye clean, white, well cut cushion is difficult, and to do it for this price is not easy. But for me, it's the faceting pattern. Nice, crispcrispCRISP facets - no 'crushed ice' muddiness or cloudiness, which can make a diamond look lifeless or even slightly gray. But it's the ASET which is so fabulous; STRONG light return, great facet balance...this one will sparkle its head off and look beautiful doing it!

And one more thing - why SI1 can be a great deal....

A VVS1 stone - and everything below it - has inclusions. So unless you go IF or Flawless, you're always going to have inclusions. WIll you be able to see them with sufficient magnification? Sure. But can you see them with the naked eye? No. Since I don't look at people's jewelry through magnification, it makes no difference to me if their stone is VVS1 or an eye clean SI2 - if I can't see an inclusion, I can't see an inclusion. That's all there is to it! So I'm not looking for a number on a piece of paper which, in essence, tells you how much magnification you'll need before you can see the inclusions. I'm looking for a stone where I can't see any marks or blemishes. So if I can do that with an SI1 - or even an SI2 - I'm going to go that route and save myself some (often quite big) bucks for the same eye clean effect. I've had diamonds from IF all the way down to I1 - and all of them were eye clean. (You can find an eye clean I1 - it's tough and it's rare, but it's out there on occasion.) SI1 is a very acceptable clarity grade and H is a great color. And on a stone with that standard of cut AND that price....

Well, holy grail in my book. As I said, I'd buy this stone if I was looking.

Either way, I wish you the very best of luck - I'm sure she's going to love her ring. And her fiancee! :)

Thanks so much. I might be crazy, but I think I can see an inclusion in the center of the stone when I few the video. Is anyone else seeing this?

Shrink the video down to life size on your monitor until the cushion looks around 7 x 7 mm instead of 30 x 30 mm and then see if you can still see the inclusion.
