Ok, I have about a week to decide on these three. Am getting Crown and Pavillion Angles on Monday, need to make a decision by the end of next week. These are all clean SI2''s with inclusion to the side and off the table. I decided to go with the SI2 to get into a bigger size but am a bit leary. Any input would be great. Angles should tell alot more.

Hi Neb,

Welcome to the forum.

A few things more you'll need for some intelligent commentary.

1. Are these GIA Reports post or prior to 01/06?

If so please provide the proportion data provided on those reports ... all of it.

2. If not you'll need to have a Sarin or Helium scan run on these diamonds to determine their proportions Once you get that info post it here and you'll get a few opinions.

3. With these diamonds being Si2's ... what assurance do you have of how "eye clean" they are? Are there microscopic pictures depicting the inclusions? If not, can you attain? Or better yet ... if you've viewed these personally were you able to see the inclusions after having seen them under magnification?

The Ex/Ex is a good start but no guarantee of top performance.

Regards,

If the reports are a year or so old then enter the report # and ct wt and get the data - then enter it into HCA - see the link below at base of the page

Ok, I have report numbers.

Firts of all, the $5800 stone is no longer available...So we move on. Report numbers are 14660741 for the 1.19 and 14637903 for the 1.22.

The vendor gave me these sarin numbers:
1.19 G:

Crown 34.8 degrees and 15.2%

Pavilion 40.8 degrees and 43%

1.22 H:

Crown 35.5 degrees and 15.3%

Pavilion 40.8 degrees and 42.9%

The 1.19 and 1.22 have both a crown angle of 34.5, crown height 15%, Pavilliion angle of 40.8, pavillion depth 43% Star length 55% and lower half of 75% according to the report I looked up. (Thanks Gary)

Same exact scpecs outside of their table and depths...A bit odd too me, but I am a novice.

My concern first is are the inclusions and I was tole both are eye clean. With people like yourself, I have been doing research for a bit over two months but could use some help to make an intelligent decsion here without being able to see the diamonds.
It was hard enough to find clean tables on SI2''s so now that I feel like I have that accomplished, I am concerned about the spread and the additional comments of surface graining and internal graining.

Thoughts? I am getting down to crunch time.

I could always go for a new AGS000 with light performance and drop down to just over a carat, but I like the size of 20 points so much more.

I will see if I can get the certs loaded.

Thanks so much for an input.

Something is off if the GIA is 34.5 and the Sarin says 35.5.

Usually there is no problem with graining.

i'm confused, at first you posted crown and pav information for both stones then said that the reports you looked up had the same specs as each other? can you clarify? where did you look up the information on the report? on the GIA website? they do tend to round the crown angle so i'm surprised it's 34.5 and not 35. or if the sarin says 35.5 then 36.

from what you posted at first, i like the 1.19 better but i don't understand why the reports and sarins are so different. that's odd.

Ok, I have a legible sarin.. thoughts?

1.23 D 61.5 T 54.9 Cr /34.5 Pav/40.8 Culet 0.6 Girdle 1.7 Diameter 6.83-7.10 HSi2

D 61.5 T 55.8 Cr/34.8 Pav/ 40.8 Culet 0.5 Girdle 1.6 Diameter6.82-6.86 1.20 G SI2

Spread is 1.4 for the G and 1.3 for the H.

I was leaning towards the larger stone because on the cert, the small needle lines ondiagram (the bottom) are on the side and about 1''2 the amount of the smaller stone. Both stones have their inclusions on the second pic of the cert or the bottom, but how will this affect the beauty? Black spots?

With info given, and I know it''s hard to describe inclusions here, I need some opinions please. Pullling the trigger in the next day or so.

Thanks

isn''t this stone out of round?

The 1.3 and 1.4 spreads are from the holloway cut tool on this site. Ex fir, brilliance, and scintilization and very good over all performance.
