Hello, I am having a tough time determining what the best combination of Cut and Color would be. Also the girdle thickness, depth, and table measurements are very foreign to me. What are everyones thoughts on the following:

1)

Shape: Cushion

Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 70.1%
Table: 63.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle:
Culet:
Fluorescence: Faint
Measurements: 7.60*6.57*4.60
Ratio: 1.16

2)
Shape: Cushion
Carat Weight: 2.15
Cut: Very Good
Color: I
Clarity: SI1
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 67.9%
Table: 60.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle:
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 7.50*7.38*5.01
Ratio: 1.02

3)
Shape: Cushion
Carat Weight: 2.04
Cut: Very Good
Color: H
Clarity: SI2
Certificate: GIA
Depth: 71.0%
Table: 70.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle:
Culet:
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.82*7.49*4.84
Ratio: 1.10

Thanks so much for the help

No thoughts on any of it. Can't chose Cushions by the numbers. Need pics and good ones, and preferrably an ASET image as well. It's all about faceting and light return. They could all be gorgeous, or they could all be dogs.

Check out these recent threads where we help this poster find a nice cushion.
https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/asscher-octavia-solitaire-engagement-ring-advice.178903/ In the second half of his first thread he starts looking for cushions. Picks a few, several of which are dogs, and we help him make better choices.

and then he gets the ASET images and we discuss the choices: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/aset-advice-1ct-cushions.179061/

Gypsy,

Thanks a lot for the reply. I see that you were of big help to the poster in the thread that you referenced. The 3 diamonds above were also from James Allen. After reading the thread, i'm thinking I may not be on the right track.

Below are the links to 3 that I was considering. My budget is 10k-13.5k, for a 2 carat if possible. All help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Need Help: Cushion Cut Color and Cut (Girdle, Depth, Ta

Okay so... Your first two picks are decent potential options. The first is a better pick than the second, I think. And that' because that second one might have a bit of a dark ring around the every center facets under the table. But if it lights up as bright green, and not blue/black on the ASET it could be okay. So it's still a potential. The third is a dog, for many reasons so chuck it out. You get three ASETs PERIOD at JA so let's see what we can do to find you a third stone.

First though, let me say that with cushions (or any fancy) you should shop by measurements not by carat weight. A 2 carat stone that is very deep can and WILL look smaller than a 1.8 of shallower cut.

Second, and you probably know this, but your budget is low for what you are shooting for. I was better able to help that other poster because their budget was in line with their desires. That meant I had a lot of options to choose from. For what you want your budget should really be in the 14,500-15,500 range at a minimum. But ideally in a budget in the high teens and low twenties. The nicest 2 carat stones I found, the ones I would want to own, personally, are in that price range.

So what does that mean? I'm going to post a few options for you.

If you HAVE to hit the two carat mark AND have no budget flexibility I would suggest your original first two choices. And this one: http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-SI2-Good-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1497948.asp it is a J. But I've seen a NUMBER of J cushions and they've all be lovely (they were all well cut). This K has potential as well, but I don't know if you are comfortable with that color (it's probably going to perform better than all of them though): http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/K-SI2-Good-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1508673.asp

IF you have a little budget flexibility up to 15k here are some others to consider:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Good-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1440934.asp
http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/J-VVS1-Very-Good-Cut-Cushion-Diamond-1519064.asp (My favorite by far of these)

I'm not going to post the best 2 ct stones I found because they are all at 19-22k.

Gypsy,

Thanks so much. Huge help. I will narrow it down to 3 and request the ASETs.

Post your ASETs when you get them and we'll help you from there on too! :wavey:
